Tucson Loop

Hello,

I am interested in a trip out west to ride the Tucson Loop.

What is a good source of information to use for planning? Interested in overnight lodging and restaurant options.

Thanks

Not sure about lodging and restaurants. Usually use google maps to start.

If you look at the 2nd link that locolobo13 gave, you'll see some maps of the loop. It's sort of one actual main closed loop with some offshoots from that.
There are a number of hotels quite close to that main loop. When traveling, I always prefer my riding destination as close to my hotel as possible.. That way I don't have to worry about how to ride to the trail or where to park if I drive.

I have stayed at neither of the following, but they both look pretty decent and are in nice areas. The first one literally abuts the trail while the second one is only a couple of hundred feet away. If you don't care that much about proximity to the trail, there are tons of choices

1. Homewood Suites at 4250 N Campbell (This is the Foothills area of town)
2. Hilton at 7500 East Broadway Blvd (East side of town)

i’ve had good luck using the hotel tonight app with affordable, decent quality places throughout the west. the app usually has about 5-8 places under $100 a night. should be one that fits your needs close to some segment of the loop.

The Hilton is your friend. Maybe 300 yards from Loop access point. Also riding distance from Saguaro Nat'l Park East, which is a gorgeous eight-mile ride if you don't mind several miles of climbing.

I rode it Friday. Weather still nice, warm but not hot. A little breezy in the afternoon but I was riding slightly downhill at the time. Stayed at the Super 8 at Grant Rd near I10. Practically on the trail. I don't recommend them. But there are two other motels next door, higher price. Was hoping for more flowers but this is a drought year. Still, a lot of the cacti were blooming. Here's some pix.

^nice! rode a 5 mile stretch just west of downtown about two weeks ago. had forgotten about how well signed it was (remembered the frequent
entrances/exits tho) and how it's a little bit wider (at least on that dtown tucson stretch) than any of the southern california bike paths i've ridden
or come across-save the bolsa chica state beach/north huntington beach path.

did come across this on the sw corner of n. granada/w. davis between w. 4th ave and w. 5th ave a short distance east of the path. pretty cool with great attention to detail. a sort of shrine to cycling. def worth a stop/visit.
amazing what you occasionally come across accidentally.
