Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The only electric door latch stories I have are from Corvettes. They have a button to open the door but there is a manual lever next to the seat with pictures on it and another near the rear hatch in case you lose electrical power.
We had one where the husband smashed the sunroof out with a hammer because his wife was inside the car. Had they read the owner's manual or even noticed the lever they could have just opened the door. Later some other knucklehead smashed out the side window for a similar reason. These people always demand we fix it for free because they didn't know how to open the door.
That’s like the Rodney Dangerfield joke about locking his keys in the car and not being able to get his wife and kids out.

They aren't ready for consumers yet.
Somebody needs to tell that to the 500,000 consumers who bought them last year.

Seriously, there are a hell of a lot of them on the road, and a hell of a lot of satisfied customers. And, really, we've been the beta testers for the internal combustion-driven automobile for 130 years. Why should this be different?

Tentative plan is two rides today. Fake miles in the morning because raining, and real miles in the afternoon.

My take on French press is that it has a very nice silky texture, same with pour-overs and a lot of people really like the taste and that smoothness texture. Not my taste but I certainly can understand why people go for both.

It may be placebo effect, but compared to drip the coffee is smoother and less of a “bite” to it (less bitter).

That's probably not a placebo. Most people like a French press due to the smoothness.

I've got a Williams Sonoma gift card burning a hole in my pocket, and I've been meaning to pick up a French Press with it, a steel one, so I can travel with it. Saw some French Press advice from Coffee Sage James Hoffman -

If you want to get geeky, another, more recent video from Hoffman, a taste test comparing immersion and percolation, complete with refractometer tests to measure extractions. It's interesting, if you like coffee, and my takeaway is that immersion is more forgiving -

Yep. I even take a plastic one on bike tours. It’s a combination French press and mug.

Hoping to get a decent ride with a couple friends but the wind is a concern with 40mph gusts predicted. The house was shaking an hour ago. I don't remember this much wind for so long before.
On another front it seems I've pissed off another geezer in the 50+ sub forum. Third time I've had one of them chastise me and this one I didn't see coming at all. I just disagreed with something and bam.
