rear rack for 20 inch folding bike?

Interested in adding a rear rack to a Downtube NOVA. I have a rear rack on my full size hybrid, but not sure if the same type of rack will fit on a small folding bike. I've looked online (Amazon, eBay, Performance, etc) but uncertain how to determine if it will fit. Would appreciate any suggestions or advice.

Not knowing your bike or fabricating skill level I have for my folders just used a rack designed for a full size bike and adapted a necessary. I have used Blackburns, Vettas, Schwinns, Pflesters (thats spelled wrong) and a couple of others with equal success. Mostly the racks will bolt on in the rear and you have make or modify the parts where it connects on the front. Roger

There are racks made for folding bikes with 20" wheels. Thorusa has a bunch on his site: Racks and Mudguards. If Downtube bikes are compatible with racks made for Tern and Dahon, then you shouldn't have any problem using one of those. Yan can probably clarify what racks work with his bikes.

Thing is most panniers expect there to be a taller rack , if its low to a smaller wheel Only rack top bags

or piling a seat mounted bag will fit well. standing a full sized back pack on top, of the rack has been Done.

Bike Fridays rear rack Uses the space between top of the tire and the underside of the rack, for a Bag sewn to fit.

Thanks. I reached out to Yan to ask if the Dahon or Tern racks will fit.

I mounted an Axiom Journey Adjustable onto my 20" folder. The leg height is adjustable and the support arms to the frame needed to be bent to reach the mounts. Once installed, it doesn't interfere with the fold on my bike or add substantially to the folded size. Full size panniers mount with ease. The extra height between the rack and fender was a convenient spot to mount a bag for my tripod, and could be used for a tent when touring, too.

Bikes: A Bianchi C2C road bike, a steel framed touring bike and a Xootr Swift folder which has made the rest redundant!

I put the Pletscher Athlete 4B rack for 20'' bikes on my Dahon and like it much better than the Dahon Biologic rack which eventually broke. Much stronger and more versatile, but not much heavier. More expensive ($49 plus $10 shpg. at Thorusa), and it took me a while to adjust just right.
