It needs red brake rotors and calipers.

The super rare Raleigh has already dropped $400 since you posted it.
Reality or desperation has evidently set in. Began at $1200. Latest heading for the ad below:

Raleigh racing bike (rare) - $250

Craigslist XO-1 Shenanigans!

Yesterday a "Barn find Bridgestone touring bike - $250 (States island)"
was posted with pictures showing reasonable condition XO-1 frame with wrecked cranks and no front tire.

I saw it 7 hours after it went up and sent an "i'll take it" and wasn't surprised not to hear back.
The original posting didn't stay up 24 hours and just before it went down this popped up:

//newyork.craigslist.org/que/bik/d/bridgestone-xo-1-grant/6339379518.html

Bridgestone xo-1 grant petersen Rivendell frame - $950 (Astoria)

Xo-1 frame and fork. One of the modern classic touring bike frames.
Only frame for sale.

I know the toll over the Verrazano has gone up, but wow....

I'm always dubious when I read "rare" in a CL ad.

This was the ad pic from "offerup" At first, I thought it was just this way from storage. Apparently that's how he rode it. I did buy a nice bike for practically nothing though

LOL! it been long fixed. If it would bring some laughter, I could always put it back that way for a photo op. The guy I bought it from must have been an engineer. it had some wierd machine block in the seat post that pushed the seat further forward. Definitely strange.

There was a $350 DeRosa in my size that was listed last week on the DC craigslist. I sent an email within a half hour of posting, then didn't hear back for a few days, and in the meantime discovered it had also been listed on the Boston CL for a more normal $1500. So figured it was a scam ad. But then I heard back on it. Here's the thread:

Nice bike and it looks like my size. Can I check it out tonight? I'm in Bethesda,
Thanks, -J
...

Hi, I'm Wendy, I'm getting back to you about the bike I'm selling on Craigslist.
I have attached some photos with it to this email. But I have some bad news, I am now in Victoria, Canada.
I hope we can still make the sale.
Thanks!
...

No problem. I can drive up tonight. What's the address?
...

Drive to Victoria?
...

Sure, why not.

The same bike's been listed on Boston CL for a while: https://boston.craigslist.org/bmw/bi...335268232.html

Just wondering exactly what the scam is? Just collecting email/phone numbers? Trying to get someone to send a money order or wire money? How does it work?

No response after that.

A few years ago a coworker almost fell for the car version of the scam. It was a Corvette on Ebay. Silly low price with a ridiculous excuse for why the price was so low. I knew it was a scam. I even printed out a warning from the Internet with almost identical wording as the ad and showed it to him. I couldn't talk him out of it. He was totally convinced it was real. He even went to go wire the money to the scammer. Some kind of hitch occurred at Western Union. He rethought it a moment and decided against it.

Recently my nephew almost fell for a CL scam ad for a Jeep. His Mom stopped him before going through with it.

Triathlon setup frequently had the saddle set forward for positioning on aero bars, and there were adapters made to fit between post and saddle for that purpose.

That isn't too different from how I have my Profile Designs bars configured on my bike, although I would have reversed the bars. Even the seat angle

I do think, however, that I may need to put my track stem onto the bike. The bars are way too high.
