New to Madison, WI and looking for fellow roadies
I was on a casual racing team that did 80-mile rides on the weekends and i'm looking for something similar in Madison.
Any tips for how to connect to the local cycling scene? Left to my own devices I think my next step would be to stop by Cafe Domestique as ask advice.

That would be a start, or you could simply scout popular routes, either by eye and judgement, or using a Strava heat map, then head out and strike up conversations with roadies as you meet them.

I would check out the Bombay Bicycle Club of Madison.
Bombay Bicycle Club
They have rides for all levels. I'm sure they would welcome you on a ride to see if it would be something that you would like to be a part of. If not, check out their routes which are available in GPS files, maps and cue sheets. Their routes are fantastic.

Welcome to Madison! Where did you move from?
I can't really help with the group rides...I'm slow and like to ride alone. But we have fantastic road cycling here!

The Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin might be able to help. You may also want to join as they make biking better in WI.

Since UW is there, you can always check in with the university's cycling club. When I was attending Ohio State many years ago, we had many non-student members in the OSU cycling club. Just like-minded people from the Columbus area who liked to ride - riders of all levels. We also had a hard-core bunch of true racer-types that'd do 200-mile rides in a day for fun!
