Bike Travel Weekend

Adventure Cycling has posted their Bike Travel Weekend for May 31st to June 2nd. https://www.adventurecycling.org/res...ravel-weekend/

As I understand it, the general idea is to encourage people to get out for a weekend overnight by bicycle. There is a spot to register as well as to find other public rides that have been registered if you want to join. There is also a drawing among those registered.

Anyone planning to use this excuse for a short overnight trip? Central TX is starting to get hot and muggy by then, however I find it still tolerable by cycling early in the day. I made a reservation at a nearby state park for a short overnight weekend ride.

Come up to Pittsburgh and ride the GAP. It should be nice and cool then.

Bike Travel Weekend is next weekend. I made my TX State Park reservations and listed my trip on Adventure Cycling site.

It still takes some getting used to - but in Central TX, the best time to tour locally is *not* in the summer. March/April or October/November are much more pleasant.
