Wussed out Saturday. I was sleepy, the kids had to go here there and everywhere for 4H, and the house still needed cleaning before the Gator game horde descended upon us. Looking forward to Tuesday.

I was supposed to ride with a friend this morning but only got 3 hours sleep Saturday night and Sunday night. I got up at 7:15 for the ride but was too tired so called and cancelled. Tonight I'm taking some strong sleeping pills.

Hmm ..... May not ride today.... Not sure yet. One of my friends that has been riding with me needs to fix his bike, told him I would help him with it when he got home. Also my missing link & chain breaker tool came in the mail today. So if he comes over I might clean my chain and install the missing link and help him work on his bike... Plus its windy again.... DOH!!!

I rode today, but I have a semi-formal function to attend tomorrow, and it's immediately after work... therefore I will probably drive tomorrow. However, commuting has been working really well for me so far! I'm so glad I made the jump.

Had big plans to ride tonight again but the daughter was not feeling to good so I wuss-ed out as well. Shame on me. I will try to ride extra tomorrow to make up the difference.

I did use today to pull my bike drive chain completele apart and clean and oil everything. I even took the 2 little pullys on the rear D apart and cleaned them. I don't think that had ever been done on this bike. I didn't have any parts left over either.

Well the good news is..... I got my friends bike fixed up (as good as I can get it). I also got the KMC missing links installed on my road & mountain bike. Cleaning the chains, rings & cassettes on both bikes took some time, but they look good now The bad news.... ran out of time for a ride....

I plan to take today off (9-21) since I finished yesterday with 60 miles and I did not ride this day last year. From 9-22-2009 to 9-30-2009 I rode 165 miles(5 ride days) to give me a little over 700 miles for the month of September 2009. With 10 days left this month I think I can equal or surpass last years mileage. The weather is perfect here again today it is a shame to waste it. We shall see....we shall see...

Taking today off. Yesterday on the way home I felt like my lung capacity was lessened. Maybe those code orange smog alerts are getting to me. I'll take the opportunity to run some car errands. A "cold front" is supposed to come through and hold the highs at around 90. While that'll help, highs are supposed to be around 80 right now. Grrr.

Slept in this morning and the cleaned the bike real good after breakfast then took the wife to the grocery store. If the weather is good Saturday I plan on a good ride. I need about 145 mile to equal September last year so I will have 6 days to do it in.

Last October I only rode about 470 miles so I should be able to get some miles ahead for the year.

Yesterday, I had to ride... err, drive my car to work.

Why? Because one of my co-workers gave me a bike!

(Don't get too excited, it's a girl's Roadmaster wallyworld bike. But good for parts!)

LOL @======> (Don't get too excited, it's a girl's Roadmaster wallyworld bike. But good for parts!) ... I bought a $79 Mart bike when I first started riding as an adult..... Rode it to the ground in about 6 months... So bought a $100 Mart bike thinking I was getting a way better bike (actually bought 2 of them one for me and one for the nephew).. Wore that one out in about 7 months (broke spokes, bent axle, sheered teeth on the cassette +++).. Used his bike to keep one of them going for another few months... Then at that point I KNEW i was going to keep riding.... And bought the Tassajara in early 2004....

Sooooo Wally bikes can serve a purpose.. They let you know if you like riding and are going to stick with it..... without spending a bunch of money on a bike that you may never ride.....

I rode today but I'll call it an "I didn't ride today" kind of day.
Rode hard on Wednesday and was totally whipped when I got home. Rested Thursday and thought I was ready to ride today. Left for my usual 35 miler. I was tired after 3 miles. I thought I was just warming up. After 10 miles I was near the house (doing 3 mile loops to warm up) so decided to throw in the towel and rode home. Did 13 awful miles I was tired all afternoon.
I may try again tomorrow or maybe I'll take another day off.

so true. Hubby got my first bike at Goodwill cause he didn't know if I really wanted to ride. (had no gears) After several biking trips and getting up to about 10 miles at a time and struggling with hills, he told me it was time for another. I was determined not to spend $$$$ so we went to Dicks and I bought my first real bike. After about 6 months struggling with the shifter, he convinced me to rent a Trek one day to test ride. Soon after that I bought me Trek hybrid.

No ride Sunday or today. This morning it was raining. The fenders I ordered don't fit. My rack is in the way. I'm about to give up on fenders. Anyway, since the rest of this week is supposed to be clear, it just made sense to take today as my off day.

Most likely no ride today... Got a call at 4:30 am saying my nephew was in an accident (he is ok not hurt)... And that they were going to impound his car if somebody did not come pick him & the car up. So very stressful morning getting him and his car home. TIRED...... And I haven't even had a chance to fix the flat from yesterday on me bike. ......

Injury progress report:
No ride on Monday for obvious reasons. No ride today although I think I could. Feeling much better, not as stiff and the RR is starting to feel much better. I would post pictures but I am sure no one would care to see the damage. The cut over the eye could probably use a stitch but at my age scars are badges of bravery.

The bike took a pretty good hit, left brake lever skinned up pretty good, right brake lever twisted sideways bar tape will need replacing and handle bars need to be straightened.

SloSpoke words of wisdom for today: Cycling is a contact sport, when you make contact (usually with the ground) you lose.

zzotherlandzz hope things work out OK for the nephew...

Uggggggg .... I don't know what is wrong with me... The weather is awesome today.... But my motivation meter is way low.... Just don't feel like riding today. Haven't ridden much in the last 5 days. Yesterday was a LONG day but that is no excuse for today.... I know part of the problem is riding the same route every day. And to drive someplace to ride all the time takes money and more time....

Enough rambling sentences..... nope... didn't ride today..... <sigh>

No ride today, could have but it seems as if all of my road rash is where my knees or elbows bend so needless to say every time I walk or bend my arm things get stretched. Provided we do not have any rain in the morning I will get out for at least a short ride. Don't want to waste any good days.
