Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Felt Breed SS cx

Hi Folks,

Newbie here. 2010 57 cm in Boulder, CO.

-added easton ea70 bars (I love the flat tops)
-Mavic open pro rims with DT 240 hubs
-35 c panaracer tires and thorn tubes on bike currently for 92 mile this weekend on primarily hard packed gravel roads
-brakes absolutely suck
-36 x 16 stock and I have a 15 and 17 rear cog
-felt rims lasted 2 weeks and dealer is giving me credit towards Mavics after 2 broken spokes and loose rear free hub

Great bike. Interesting STI cable routing. Has it affected shifting as all?

I think he chose nokon for exactly that reason. Tight bends are ok.

Still looks silly I think.

Once the cables are lubed properly, it's not too much different, but it does make the upshift a tad tougher.

Nice. Both of them.
I have the same Poprad (2005?). Is that an eccentric hub or did you find the "magic gear"?

Thanks Myclem. Yup, the Poprad is an 05 with an ENO hub. The Poprad may be going back to a 1x9 as a commuter so I may use the ENO on the CX-9 for SSCXWC in Oct. Next season I'll probably get a new CX-9 frame and use and eccentric BB for SS use.

My 2011 Specialized Crux Comp. This is my first CX bike and I absolutely love it!

Here is a pic of it mid-build. I will try and get some better shots of it this weekend!

Beginner trails. It's a nice opportunity to ride a traffic-less ride with my son when we're up at the Lake.

Until I acquire something more appropriate -- this will serve as my cross bike. Surly Steamroller, Michelin Mud2s, other parts.

First race tomorrow.

When I upgrade the bike, I'll upgrade to a non-blackberry camera picture.
