Stuff I found while riding this week
For some reason I find a lot of tools while riding my area. This week I found more than usual. Not sure what kind of tool the purple thing is. Might be some kind of tire lever or some other device. It was found on a short stretch of road in Medina that has roadies and MTB riders who are riding to the next section of trail.

Crack pipe, probably some idiot throwing it out to keep the police from finding it when they were about to stop them.

I have picked up several nice pruning shears while riding around town. I'm not sure why these are the most common tool I find. Maybe all the mow, blow and go Joes hereabouts don't secure them very well when they hit the road.

I've found 4 9/16 wrenches with the swivel ratchet end in the last year on the same road. I'm figuring it's the same poor soul that leaves the thing in the wrong spot on his truck after some repair, and drives down my road!

My father used to park almost a mile from his office to get some exercise before and after work. His route took him by several highway on and off ramps. He put together quite a large random collection of tools from under car hoods over the course of about 25 years. Even professionals leave tools under hoods and under braking or acceleration, they tend to fall out.
On my own rambles I have found a lot of tools, fishing equipment, a surprising number of bandannas and other such stuff. OTOH I no longer investigate plastic bags after finding out how many young mothers wrap dirty diapers in plastic bags and pitch them out on the edges of city streets.

Most of the tools I find are pretty low quality, but over the years I've accumulated almost a dozen Snap-On wrenches, pliers, and sockets.

Yeah, my brother was a narcotics investigator LT for the sheriff's department here, he's on the road now so my education is slipping. Actually I found out what those were from a supervisor's drug free work place seminar I took. I handle the drug-free work place administration and education for our construction company. And yes we found a crack pipe on the site many times. Hopefully it was druggies after hours looking for a hiding place. Scum bags.

I picked up a bike tire lever this week. Only worth a few cents but having an extra one could be handy.

A lot of truckers carry 9/16 wrenches to make quick adjustments on trailer brakes. It's not unusual for them to leave the tools somewhere on the rig and drive off. I once left a 4-D cell maglight on a flatbed trailer; it was still there ten miles later when I parked the truck.

That knife looks nasty. Looks like something a teenaged male would carry, with the objective of impressing other teenaged males. Wonder who tossed it?
I haven't found anything worthwhile by the side of the road for some time. The only things I've spotted lately are cheap cell phones, usually mangled, and the occasional pantyhose. We probably don't want to know the back stories there.

I find a lot of change. I have a jar at home I throw it in. Told the wife when we go on the next cruise, I'm going to cash it in and play the nickle slots in the casino
I have found tools, nuts, bolts, and one day something caught my eye glistening (more than glass usually does), so I turned around went back, and came down the hill again, to see if I could figure it out. It was a diamond embedded in the road. I picked it out, and looks to be about 1/4 carrot in size. Not sure if real.

Probably not too big for some real TEXAS sized crack rocks I think you are right about the grass bowl size. Moot point for me, never even been around the crap. Interesting anodizing and machining, shame it is wasted on drugs.

I'm pretty sure I've left more tools under people's hoods than I've found along the road, but I do have some good free stuff.
I had two pair of Snap On needle nose pliers for more tham 20 years and lost them both the same week.

Most dangerous things I've found in the roads were golf balls. Dangerous because they were bouncing off the asphalt after going errant from the golf course next door.

Since you brought it up, I want to share why, in my opinion, this happens. My mom and dad taught us never to litter. I have passed that down to my children and they do not litter.
I was once walking with someone that was drinking out of a milk container. He threw it in a litter filled ditch. I asked, no, I TOLD, him to pick it up. He said, why, everybody else litters.
