All family and close friends who were able (about 15) rode bicycles to the gravesite. May sound weird but was very meaningful to the family.
I'm with Tom. I think that was a fantastic way to remember your brother.

About 3 miles down a trail I ride there is a large stand of bamboo. I needed some to make a stand for my hammock, so I carried 8 pieces of 9 to 12' long bamboo strung on my bike 3 miles back to my truck. I did have pics too, but my computer took a dump about two months ago. I ended up suspending the load from the handlebars and seat, straddling the poles. Kept looking for a windmill to joust but they must be in short supply around these parts.

Strangest thing I've carried on my bike would have to be a nearly full-sized plastic Halloween decoration skeleton. It was for an assignment in photography class, a motion study, and I volunteered to use a nonliving model to up the challenge. Popped off the seat and strapped the skeleton to the bare post, clamped a light and my camera to the top tube and ran down the hall while the camera snapped at timed long exposure. Sure, it's technically not transporting the skelly, but it does qualify as strangeness on a bike.

Here's a pic of the finished product:

Some things that come to mind initially:

Two large bundles of fire wood, one strapped to each rack

In my Timbuk2 bag, three 16x20 framed photos I was taking to a gallery.

A water mellon strapped to the rear rack, a blueberry pie to the front rack and a bottle of Merlot in my pocket.

A little urchin named Stephanie.
