I have no idea whether this is true, but I've heard the reason they bring us dead fleshies is they think we're incomplete hunters and need their help.

Hard to say what is going on in Latte's little brain.

A couple of days ago I found the rump of a headless mouse laying on the porch next to a bird. She left it out on the porch overnight, but the next morning the first thing she did was head out to check out here now aged kill.

Then a little later, she got her half a mouse, and came into the window, jumped over me and headed into the house... much to her protest, I threw her and her mouse outside and closed the window. Then she came back with her bird. NOPE.

Yet, I don't think she was bringing any of them to me. More trying to sneak them past me. Maybe wanting me to see them, but they were HERS.

As far as hunting, I seem to be very good at catching those cans of tasty morsels. Oh, and better at fishing too. Mmmm Salmon.... One of Latte's favorites.

The cat brings you the kill as a present. You must praise the cat with approval. Then the cat will develop into an efficient killing machine. And get rid of any mice you might have trying to take up residence.

I'm working from the garden office because the sun is out today.

My neighbor is laughing at me because Bear saw a crow and lost his mind, so I'm telling him "get the bird!! you have to get that bird because we don't have food for you!"

She says one of them comes to her door and waits to be let in. I asked which one, she said "the gray one." They're both gray. If it's Bear, he's probably doing it because he's confused, if it's Parsley she's looking for better food.

Our cat brings us mice every now and then. he has access to the house through a cat door and will occasionally show up with one. After we praise him, my wife has trained him to take his prize into our bathtub, where he can do with it as he pleases. Makes for easy cleanup. A few years ago he showed up with a juvenile rabbit. With the neck in his mouth, the hind legs of the rabbit were dragging on the ground yet he managed to get it into the tub. Extra credit for that one!

That is one long ass mouse tail.

I’ve posted this before. I ran down stairs because the battle was so noisy I thought someone was trying to break in. He even knocked over my heavy floor pump.

I almost miss having mice.

Y'all are getting this wrong. She's saying, "Hey mf, If I was bigger, this would be you."

Now that one that drug a rabbit home? I'd be sleeping with one eye open.

If cats were big enough, they'd be great friends until you move the wrong way, and then it would be a slow and torturous death.

But they're not, so they bring us fleshies in exchange for our services opening cans.

The cat never learns not to eat lizards they make her puke every time. I saved many a lizards life by distracting the cat long enough for the lizard to escape certain death.

Bear just came in with something hanging from his mouth. I thought it was a half dead mouse, he likes to release them inside so he can play and they can't escape. I jumped up and closed all the room doors.

It's a bird.

Again.

He rolled around with it looking pleased for a few minutes, then left it on the rug and is out looking for another one.

I'm not sure how to prevent this except to keep him in all the time, and I can't do that. Guess who's getting another bell collar today? (He slipped the last one.)

Yup, Flower leaves feathers all over the garage sometimes she leaves me a wing. The cat waits for birds to hit a window and gets a meal out of the stunned bird. Kind of cheating but she don’t care.

Oh, there've been rumors of bigger cats around the neighborhood. Not one I'd wish to tumble around with. But, fortunately they are reclusive and shy around humans and don't like the taste of human flesh.

That is unlike my housecat that just loves the taste of a little bit of finger... and I have to constantly remind her "That's the finger that feeds you".

I wonder at times where she actually came from after she wondered up one evening 10 years ago. It took me 6 months to win her over and she shows gratitude by massacring the local mice population. Whoever dumped this cat on the road lost a great cat and an excellent mouser. I guess people believe they are doing the right thing but it is very cruel to ditch a domesticated animal with no basic skills of survival. Not condemning the people they think at least the animal has a chance and in some cases they get lucky and find a loving home. No easy answers here. All I can say is think hard about it.
