What drink do you use as a thirst quencher?

I drink water but I also carry a beer or two in my basket for afterwards. Occasionally when I'm exhausted I'll have one to make it through the last few miles. It's a bike-way so no cars to worry about but there all lots of really stupid pedestrians infiltrating the bike-way these days who are almost as dangerous. Cheers

I've been using Cytomax for years and I have come to realize that, unless I am doing an endurance ride, I basically only need something to quench my thirst. Water works, but a sweetened drink works even better. I have tried powdered Iced-Tea recently and it worked fine and taste great. What have you tried or use as a thirst quencher?

Water in one bottle.
Vega electrolyte hydrator in another.
I did the Nuun thing for years but recently switched to Vega because I was getting gas - the burp kind - from the Nuun tablets. Plus I like the taste of the Vega better.

Water for most rides, Gatorade for longer rides and Bourbon for rest stops.

I’m not super-picky, If it’s a 2-bottle ride, Gatorade, Squincher, whatever is on hand, usually cut with 1/3 extra water, because I don’t like it really sweet.
The number 1 bottle is always water.
After the ride, though, nothing beats a cold beer. Witbier in the garage, and lager in the shower.
I’ve also been known to mix (cold) coffee with stouts or porter before heading out in cold weather (under appropriate conditions, of course)

Water only when riding, but after a hard ride on the trainer when I’m parched, ice cold diet tonic water seriously hits the spot. Not kidding, try it.

I used to be almost always water, but got recommended Nuun tabs when riding Halaeakala. I’ve had them for every >1hr ride since. I like the flavour, and unfortunately so do my kids, so I can’t leave a bottle lying around before the ride.
For a while I used to pour a can of Minute Maid lemonade into a bottle and top off with water, just to have something other than water as a drink option. But I always have water on any ride; you can’t spray Gatorade on your glasses halfway up a mountain.
post-ride I’ll drink a whey protein shake with a bit of milk added.

In addition to LOTS of water, I'm still a powdered gatorade fan. But powdered only! Not the liquid stuff on grocery store shelves.
Don't ask me why. Works for me.

Water is good. When im working outside in the winter as a gardener i take a flask of warm water with me as well as coffee.
Its so important to stay well hydrated whatever you are doing.

Someone mentioned earlier, I used to do one bottle of water and one Gatorade. Now it is 100% water during the ride. An ice cold chocolate milk after a long (for me 50+ miles) hot ride.

Water, or Gatorade, or whatever I feel like at the time.
I guess I am fortunate that I possess the ability to just drink whatever I feel like and don’t have to ask/poll strangers for help/ideas on the inter-webs.

If beyond mere thirst, as such, following hard workouts I generally have a decent blended protein/greens/fruit combination I put together -- leafy greens, sunflower seeds, avocado, whey protein powder, electrolytes, yogurt, berries, a decent nut "milk." In amounts that provide ready energy and long-lasting energy, with sufficient macronutrients to aid in rebuilding, with modest overall calories. Nixes the thirst, too, nicely.

I don't buy into the expensive bike boutique crap, it's all nonsense. I also don't use Gatorade or Powerade since Coke or Pepsi (whichever) bought them out and they decided to add in a lot more sugar, like 14 grams from the original of just 4 grams, Nuun has more potassium, but also more sodium. I use Nuun Sport tablets instead, I get them cheap, they have just 1 gram of sugar, and they include a little caffeine. I also dilute mine by 50% more than instructions say to do. The way I see it, is that I'm not a pro rider or racing at all for that matter, I don't have anyone buying me the good stuff and nor do I need the good stuff.
I do use Cytomax but only the Recovery formula.
