will be interesting to see if dqs morphs into an all-encompassing team, hitting the classics, short tours, one-days and gt's vs just the classics and one-days.
they were already trending that way...with remco and almeida (and alaphilippe/jungels somewhat). it would seem every race/tour is in play and not just stage wins.

it was interesting to see ineos in the tour de france post-bernal bouncing. aggressive and opportunistic. tgh had a win in the giro along with the success of ganna and narvaez
not a fan of ineos but fascinating to watch them adjust on the fly from a strictly gc-based team.

retroactively extending the new "if your team isn't entered into the league by the start of stage four, your team isn't eligible to podium, get frequent flyer miles, complimentary massages, etc."
to include this giro. it ain't fair to have the daily hopes and dreams of various teams/players buoyed and destroyed more cruelly and unusually with someone jumping in late.
with that said...current standings as of the conclusion of stage 17:
1. USAZorro (what took you so long?)
2. yellow snow aficionado (what took you so long?)
3. MTBrider (hard charging in the last week!)

and now this...ugh...

https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/gir...from-stage-20/

it'll be a minor miracle if the giro actually completes stage 21.

The argument is only so heated because the stakes are so small.

My fantasy run ended long ago in the Giro and before it started in the Vuelta. What about Almeida's? Does the Stelvio claim another victim. I hope not but wouldn't bet against it.

TGH for the day and Wilco into pink.

bleep yes. thinking there will be another 3-5 dnf's along with another gc contender or three definitely eliminated from the podium....thinking almeida and pozzovivo fall away along with perhaps another.
tgh has the youth and the legs and could conceivably wind up being the pink panther. blake edwards would be proud. henry mancini...likely not. it would be wild to see ineos with a guy in pink this late
in a gc without the usual dominator/driving mr. daisy mode.

Tgh just missed it. Almeida put in a fantastic run. Tgh is impressive considering he waited for Thomas early on. Ineos might just turn this around!

I agree with the sentiments about ineos going from GC to opportunistic - I forget that they sign some of the best to be domestiques. Unleash em and wow!

I can't keep up with the relentless pace of two GTs and a bit of a crunch in both work and home responsibilities. Work is going to have to go. I haven't seen the Stelvio replay yet. Uggh!

No one is going to do the work today to bring Demare to the finish line. I have no idea who will win from the break.

Some guy on one of them newfangled carbon fiber jobbies is going to win the stage.

Perhaps the day when electronic shifting reminds us why it's not such a good idea.

wow. tgh killing it. good for him. tomorrow's last stage....that pancake-flat tt will be exciting to watch the jai/tgh duel for the pink.

if tgh wins the giro, that may be enough for team MTBrider to snatch the pink jersey at the last possible moment.
