I posted details about this in another Kona thread but wanted to give it it's own. I'm super happy with the results.
I've pulled several nice bikes from the Birch Bay community dumpster where I have a vacation place over the years and this is my favorite to date. As found it had small slick tires, no saddle or seatpost, a horrible front V-Brake with only one brake lever. The paint was very faded but decals in decent shape. I chose to complete a rattle can re-spray while masking all original decals. It's a pretty light bike in stock form but I decided to add every vintage cool lightweight part own at it, had some in use, some sitting on a shelf: Avid Ultimate titanium brake levers, Syncros Titanium bottom bracket & crank-o-matic crank bolts, zoom 160g handlebar, bought a Kalloy seatpost on eBay that looks like the orginal, some LX cantilevers, Flite saddle. Every existing part got and overhaul.
Finished weight is about 22.5lbs. The stem and fork paint color chosen is a bit golder than I intended but I'm quite happy with the finished product. Needed new Tires, middle/inner chainrings and rear brake shoes. All in I spent $260 CAD and many hours.

I researched it a fair bit before putting them on, the version I have was actually made for canti's Avid started adding an adapter for v brakes later followed but a v brake specific design, they work great with both canti's I'm using and let's face it, probably the best levers ever made

Just got back from a trail ride, these 26 year old bikes can be a job to tune, the RD has been a lot of work to get quiet, turns out the outer cage was bent a bit where the steel knuckle axle connects. Pretty close to perfect now

I just finished a 94 Stumpjumper rebuild. Rear derailleur was my issue during the initial tuning tonight and I found out the rear hanger was bent. I bought the frame and a 95 Rockshox DH for the build from a guy in Georgia. I figure the hanger was likely bent during shipping to Ohio.
