It's sad. His wife died, and he has to clean up and is low on cash. I understand his bitterness.

Better to explain once in the ad, than to have to explain to multiple lowballers.

I love the bidding war for this "RARE WAREHOUSE FIND NEW IN BOX 60's VINTAGE ROAD BIKE."

https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=190333116360

The seller has another one with a Buy It Now of $249.00, plus $39 shipping. Check his feedback, he's sold several for about $200 apiece.

Hello all, I'm selling a nice, mint condition Windsor track bike. Its both fixie and single speed with no brake. Pretty simple track bike, that looks great and has no scratches. I'm selling because I have decided track bikes are not my style. If there are any questions please feel free to ask! Price is negotiable.

It probably won't help him that the bike's $50.00 less brand new. Shipping is included.

Why do people do this? This is a perfectly nice mixte, and for the right buyer might even bring his asking price--though he would have a much better shot actually in Chicago. But then he has to spoil it by claiming an absurd 1984 price, which means you really shouldn't believe anything else he says about his mom or the recent tune-up.

$1800 for a Centurion? Wow, my custom built Davidson must be a POJunk (that's not what I originally wrote) then as I only paid about $1200 a few years earlier.

At least his asking price isn't all that unreasonable.

Rare vintage bicycle for sale! - $50 (Laval)

This is a Pro tour Lynx 12 speed model. Now I know some of you naysayers will treat this as a joke, but trust me it isn't! This is a very valuable bike, since only 13 440 models were produced in the year 1987! Comes included with tons of accessories, such as:

-a seat
-two WORKING wheels!
-brakes
-stylish cyan and faded pink frame!

Now, as you can imagine, this bicycle isn't in perfect condition, which is why the asking price is so low. There are a few minor mechanical problems with it, such as:

-no front brakes
-back brakes don't function at all.
-both tires flat, because:
-both tires lose air at an alarmingly quick rate
-seat rusted into position
-front wheel lacks one nut, making it jiggle around when you ride on it and fall off if you go too fast
-doesn't shift gears properly
-frame shows signs of rust
-all moving parts show sign of rust, even the plastic ones.
-frame is designed for women, yet the seat is stuck way too high for any women I know. Might fit someone above 6'4.
-has been rained on and left unused for the better part of the last 20 years I'd wager

However, with some TLC, this bike might become an excellent daily rider for anyone looking for a stylish, retro, 80's vintage bicycle!

Price is negotiable, local pickup only.

Good bike, decent price, not a bad ad:

https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/bik/1371914423.html

Very clean Series 3, Blue with red "freckles". No crappy pics here. Shimano RX100, Araya rims, MKS pedals, Avocet Cross saddle, Sakae bars and Biachi Stem. Size is 22" center-center / 23" center-top with a 22 1/2" topbar. (Sorry, I don't have a metric tape). Email your name/number/best time to call and I will contact you. Don't miss this very nice classic.

Because you need metric tape to convert from inches to centimeters...

This isn't really funny, except that the ad, containing the words "THIS BIKE WONT LAST LONG AT THIS PRICE, SO CALL NOW!!! " has been up there off and on for about a month.

I'd probably go for it for about half what he's asking, if I wanted another Technium but I already have a 440.
