EU 79% duties on Chinese e-bikes
European Union is going ahead with up to 79% import duties on imported Chinese electric bikes, claiming unfairness of government subsidies:

I suggest EU should themselves subsidize the move away from combustion engines. It is not clear to me why bicycles are targeted and apparently not scooters.

yeah, that doesn't seem like a good idea overall. Wonder how the Chinese will respond.

ROC vs PRC
Look at wholesale imports of components from Taiwan, by European bike manufacturers , to build their bikes in the EU?
Rather than complete bikes shipping out of Shanghai?
Swagtron? there's a name..

you all forget one aspect
low quality means they do not last, means garbage dumpster
example
WALLMART China crap
I worked at the garbage dumpster here for 6 months part time - everyday at very least one department store POC bike thrown into garbage,
never saw $1000-3000 bike in that dumpster.
and bicycle takes room .
Europe has only that much room at the garbage dumpsters much less than NAmerica.
I do't blame them.
