ebike batteries
I need to replace my e-bike battery. The old battery seems to be 37V according to the sticker on it,
However, most batteries in the market seem to be 36V. Will they work?

What is the chemistry of your battery. If the same as most Lithium batteries currently (no pun intended), it's 10s (10 batteries in series, so considered 36V, but will charge to 42V (4.2V per cell). Normally, the controller will accept higher voltage. The short answer is yes.

He could have LiFePO4 batteries, where 10 cells in series are 36.5V max instead of 42.0V. The best thing to do is to buy a new charger that matches the new battery.

The term lithium ion battery refers to a rechargeable battery where the negative electrode (anode) and positive electrode (cathode) materials serve as a host for the lithium ion (Li+). Rechargeable small sealed lead acid (SSLA) batteries, which are valve-regulated lead acid batteries, (VRLA batteries) do not require regular addition of water to the cells, and vent less gas than flooded (wet) lead-acid batteries.SSLA batteries are sometimes referred to as “maintenance free” batteries. The reduced venting is an advantage since they can be used in confined or poorly ventilated spaces.There are two types of VRLA batteries,
- Absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery
- Gel battery (“gel cell”)
SSLA batteries include a safety pressure relief valve. As opposed to flooded batteries, a SSLA battery is designed not to spill its electrolyte if it is inverted.
