Need help with bike computer (Bryton reading incorrect speed)

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Need help with bike computer (Bryton reading incorrect speed)

My Bryton computer has been reading my speed slower than I’m actually moving. Anyone have an idea of how to fix this?
I had a feeling it was the case, so I compared it to my Garmin watch, and the computer is indeed consistently slow.
The Bryton will be slower by a couple of miles an hour on even short rides. I noticed sometime I’ll be cruising at 22-23 on the watch while the bike computer is stuck at 14-15 mph.

Are you using a speed sensor? If so, then maybe you entered the wrong wheel size. Have you made sure you got the latest software update for your device?

If not, get one. GPS computers are not great for accurate speed as trees and such can interfere with the signal and they measure speed over distance rather than continuously.

I have four different GPS computers. They ALL read too slow. I just KNOW I'm going faster!

Thanks guys. Yeah, I’ll give it a try. It’s a GPS computer, so I’ll see about adding a speed sensor.
I tested it out somewhere with more open space and it seems to be working better that way. The trouble is when I ride my regular loop at the heavily-treed nature center.
wheel size was and software was up to date.

The wheel size is only used if you have a wheel sensor.

Want to be accurate and consistent on speed data? If speed sensor for a wheel is an option it is the only way to go

Both are in mph. Anyone have recommendations for pairing a speed sensor to a Bryton Rider 330?

Thanks, yeah, that’s the route I’m going to take.

anyone have an idea on how to pair a speed sensor to a Bryton Rider 330?

Are they fairly universal?

I’m new to this, so all help is appreciated. I’d like to go ahead and pair the computer with a speed sensor. I’d normally get some help from the local shop, but I bought this one at a shop a little ways away where I got my bike.

Is it too late to return the Bryton or seek warranty coverage? Although GPS is imperfect for speed and distance, a functioning receiver should not be capable of as much error as you're seeing.

Here are instructions on pairing a speed and cadence sensor. There are speed sensors you can buy independently (no cadence bundle) but these communicate differently and may not work with your computer, so go ahead and buy the bundle to play it safe even if cadence isn't important to you.

Thanks for the help on this. Yeah, too late to return, but it’s been much closer to the true speed this week when I haven’t been riding at the nature center — which is heavily wooded. So it’s likely an interference problem. I’ll go ahead and order the bundle and install the speed sensor.
