campy c record crank question

i just won a very cheap set of campy c record track crankarms on ebay- it was very cheap, im kinda nervous but i think itll be ok. its just used and the "record" is scratched off. but i was wondering whats the smallest sized 144 bcd (im pretty sure this is what this campy [I]should[I] take) chainring i can get for a reasonable price (lets say under 60 for now)? also if you know this crank isnt a 144 bcd chainring please tell me. thatll make things easier. thanks a bunch

If it is a real Pista then it's 144 BCD. The smallest ring available (possible) is 41T. TA makes one and it should not be over $50-$60. But I would not recommend it for a fixed gear. It's "Super Record" style with no webbing. They are very flexi/wobbly. I would run a common 42T Nuovo Record style which is easy to get in old Sugino, and new Rocket.

The hot tip for a cheap BB is the Campy ACS triple. Same axle length as the Pista BB, and I've seen them online new for $20-$30 bucks. Older (late 90's early 00's) Veloce or Centaur triple should be the same as well.

111mm is the correct spindle length.

sweet, ill keep my eye out for a non race-quality bb. also, i think ill get a 44 or 42 tooth sugino (messenger) zen ring when the right time comes. they seem to be cheap and ive heard theyre pretty round and if i get 42/16 or 44/17 it comes out someting like the 39/15 im running now. this is a project for spring when i get a bmw frame- i have everything good on my bike now except the crappy truvativ crank on there now. oh, also, can i just buy a 111mm spindle and put it in a different non-previously mentioned bb? also, qbp's site sold a miche bb and it was 110.5 mm spindle, do you think that may work? thanks

im getting a bit confused with things, so ill take my cranks to a shop with my bike and ask them what they think. the problem is no shops in pittsburgh know anything about track stuff, let alone carry anything- from what ive seen. oh, if you have any more suggestions for sub $100 bb let me know. thank

I don't know if you have a Italian bb, I'll assume it is English.

CRecord cranks didn't have "record" on them. Only modern Campy Record cranks do...

The high zoot carbon BB that is mated for the Record Pista is 111mm asymetrical. But it is an indoor/fair weather only BB. Your better bets are the ones that have been mentioned, either cheap or sealed. The Centaur triple is 111mm/symetrical, as well as the other triples mentioned. I run a Record Pista on a Centaur triple and get a 43.3mm chainline on a 68mm shell. No spacers, and proper torque settings.

prolly has it right, the ones i got are the above picture- i found out theyre late 90's era. but i think most of the campy bb's will work, seeing as they have 111mm spindles. im just going to have a shop order and install the right one for me to save me hassle- if things go wrong when i do it ill have nobody to blame but myself. besides i get things at cost +10% because i race. i think ill do this "Centaur triple and get a 43.3mm chainline " because paul hubs have a 44mm chainline and .7 of a mm difference should be neglegable. thanks

Iron City Bikes in Oakland knows a good bit about track/fixed bikes as a lot of the guys there ride fixed, but I don't know if they know Campy/higher end track stuff. They definitely carry some track stuff, because I just bought a 103mm Sugino BB there yesterday. For Campy they'd probably have to order it or at least direct you to someone who might have it.
