I had a pidgeon fly into my front wheel this morning and I've got front and rear brakes.
Good story anyway, the part where you ran over the puppy was my favorite.

I thought everybody knew that puppies and little kids don't know what they're doing, so you should slow way the hell down, like a walking pace. Wassamatta, can't speed back up after you pass 'em?

TRUE STORY
so today I was on this safty path, and I almost hit a reeeeally fat beaver ( I think it was a beaver). I was so close to hitting it, it would have been a miniture version of that tour de france video.
And as soon as it went down, the first thing that came to mind was this thread.
P.S I ride brakeless (right now, subject to change, I don't base my life on it, dumb debate)

Same thing happened to me. It flew into my front wheel spokes and died. I did not fall or even lose control. I slowed down and looked behind me and the thing was just laying there in the street. Not my fault, it came out of nowhere and hit my front spokes sideways. Moral of the story, pigeons need brakes.

I ran over a diaper once. Stank too. I found a car wash and jet hosed the hell out of my bike. Swore I could still smell it for hours.

ON a safty path today, there was a guy staring out in to the distance, with one of those re-coiling dog leashs (that are really thin, and basicallyt invisiable) He tripped me, I didn't fall, and I took the dog for a ride. I felt bad. And I didn't have brakes

Because it's an important issue and it's a fun discussion. I have never seen a cyclist prawl through a dog. That was fascinating. And, I now have a copy of Low GI tantra which Ken posted. (Thanks!)

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
I almost ran over a hooker today...
She was crossing the street from my right and was already a few steps to my left when she turned around and stepped right in front of me.
I aimed for her ass.

PS - I was riding my new old Kuwahara (gearie) and discovered that with the new Kool Stops it will stop on a dime and give back a nickel.

again, the puppy didn't die or even get injured. it was just scary to think that i could have killed the puppy.
also, people on this forum calls me "the puppy mangler" and "every time your ride brake less :data bike kills a puppy" .
nice first impression :/.
updated: me and my grandpa installed front brakes on it today. nothing like quality time with my grandpa working on bikes. i fell much more comfortable riding my kilo tt now. i don't think it looks uglier. i got teased a little for installing them, but i can ride much faster now and go down hills more aggressively knowing i have the front brake along with slowly pedaling to a stop.
side note: i also ate it today. ate the grass, mud and cement. triple kill. the kilo tt runs very very well, but i'm just not used to the straps, i keep forgetting i have them. also, my leg sometimes hits the front wheel at slow speeds and sharp turns. but my friend said i just have to lean while turning.
the kilo tt is an awesome bike. just have to get used to riding a track bike and practice my sharp turns. the puppy story is real, and more of the members on here realize i'm not a troll anymore. i ride with a front brake now, i wish i was pro enough to ride brake less, but i went down hill a lot today and like my front brake for now.

databike,
I called you Puppy Mangler. Laughed my ass off writing it, too. It was cute. Did you honestly think you would not take even a good natured jab or two over the situation? C'mon. You ran over a puppy for goodness sakes. Your own mother would take a cheap shot at you after the dust settled. While an obviously unfortunate incident there is also an undeniable comic side - do in no small part to the fact the puppy is thankfully fine. There is enough material there to last for years. You might never get off the hook. Canine Crippler. Snoopy Snuffer. Dog Dismantler. Oops, there I go again.
