Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So Razor was banned? And his response was to make cycling DVDs?

It's hard to stay current around here.

Hmmm. No.

However, after getting into the Cadbury Flake commercials that were in the related videos I was mildly aroused and have put a visit to the local limey food store on my to-do list.

Will I be wasting my money on a Cadbury Flake, coasting?

Last month a friend of mine complained that she kept getting flats. I had her drop her bike off, did a thorough inspection of the rims, tires and tubes, gave it a quick tune-up, and then gave it back to her, mentioning that she should be riding between 90 - 100 psi.

Yesterday, we had our first opportunity to ride together. I rode to her house and when I arrived, asked if she had enough air in the tires. Her response was "Yep! Plenty! They're still full from when you pumped 'em up!" She even did the old thumb-squeeze on the tube and declared them hard...to which I responded "That's because you're pushing the tire all the way to the rim!". I put on the floor pump, which read "20" in each tire, and got them up to pressure for her. Surprisingly...no flats on the ride!

As an aside, my ride was 41 miles but because I rode 25 of it with her, most of it at a much slower pace than normal, I was able to fly on the final 8 miles after dropping her off. Typically the last 8 of that ride is when I suffer the most.
My idiot neighbour back in London didn't have a pump and never pumped up his tyres ever. He claimed that if the shop pumped it up ok when they sold it to him 2 years ago, it should be fine. That man is an idiot.

Nice of them.

Hint - When you're finally dialed in, make sure you either measure or mark all your settings before shipping your bike. For instance, you know where your clip-ons attach to your bar? I took a silver sharpie and outlined the little plastic thingies that clasp the bar. Kind of like outlining your tools on the pegboard...only one right way for them to be put back on. I did the same for my seatpost.

Largely it's a function of your writing. You tend to use byzantine sentence constructions that come across oddly and are often difficult to understand. But now and then you post something that is clear and on point.

Is English a second language for you?

This is the questionable statement I asked you to explain. I find this interesting and would be very curious to know what you are referring to. Enquiring minds want to know.

That's what I'm talking about! I had a granola bar and chocolate milk

For me, not eating after 8 and eating a light, clean breakfast are the two major keys for weight control/loss.

You missed my earlier post in this vortex. LBS wants to re-fit me on Tuesday before I go fudging with stuff, but a one-spacer loss will be happening at minimum.

I like them a great deal.

I'll snap some of the wheels when the homebrew dries and I can bring him inside. I don't like how the brake pads leave a brownish tinge on the wheels. It was very noticeable in the sunlight. It makes them look dingy.

Good to know. My wife is putting Ergonovas on the S2. She thinks she'll like them.

Are you using the Reynolds pads?

Mine are aluminum, so they're not weight weenie approved. What groupset is she going with?

No, I have the Shimano DA pads. My Assaults didn't come with pads, so I ended up with these from the LBS. They turn the wheel the same color as the pad.
