So I'm building up a Cooper CX from Lynskey as my commuter/Cross and somehow the Blackburn racks just wont do! so I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a nice rear rack for me? Disk brake compatible preferably, but I can modify one if need be. Id like to use panniers as well, so ya. What do ya recommend?

I love my Soma rear rack. I had Blackburn before, and they worked, but the Blackburn was not as sturdy nor did it look as nice. Not sure about the disc compatible, but that's easliy researched...why yes they do have them...

Which finish are you getting on your Cooper CX?

Tubus has some nice shot-peened stainless racks that would look great with the brushed Ti finish. I have the Cosmo, and like it a lot. It comes with spacers if needed to clear disk calipers, but from the looks of photo #25 in the slideshow, you won't need them.

Get Tubus from Wayne at The Touring Store.

The Tubus Luna is a lighter-duty stainless rear rack. Wayne has the stainless front ones too.

Or if cost is no object, Tubus makes two racks in Ti--the Airy and the Carry. Wayne sells those too, but doesn't have anything other than the price on his site.

I've thought about putting a rack on my Ti bike, and the Airy is what I was considering. Just so the material matches, you know? I already went with King's Ti bottle cages...

Tubus actually makes titanium rear racks if you want something matching. The Tubus "Airy" weighs around 350 g including all assembly parts:

Works best with small panniers like Ortlieb Front-Rollers or Ortlieb Sport-Packers.

Rather expensive, but I don't know of any other rear racks that comes anywhere near the strength-weight ratio of these Tubus titanium racks. There is a 30 years warranty on Tubus racks.

Their less expensive (but still expensive) steel racks are really good too. I really like my Tubus Logo because I sometimes haul heavy loads.

Regarding panniers, then Ortlieb panniers is among the best on the market today; they have the best attachment systems by far, and are fully waterproof. Sturdy too, not only because of the materials but also because of the excellent designs.

The SnapIt attachment system, while proprietary, is effective and convenient.

RackTime is Tubus' more commuter- or entry-level-oriented brand, so the quality is good.

The weight might be higher than you want to put on a titanium bike, just out of a desire to keep your total weight down. Then again, you might not care.

Looking at the relative positions of the brake caliper and the rack mounting holes, you may not need a special rack (see image 25 on your link). You should be able to adapt the AddIt or any of the Tubus racks to play nicely with this kit regardless.

Portland Design Works Payload. It's a tad weighty at 3 lbs, however. Look, also, at Soma Fabrication racks. I have a Deco on a cruiser frame that is very perty.

Topeak Super Tourist DX Tubular Rack w/disc mounts. The second horizontal side bar makes mounting a pannier a breeze, even with a trunk bag. Also, the rearmost tubes provide more support behind the pannier. It has a bracket compatible with most taillight mounts as well. Combined with an MTX trunk bag it is very slick.

If budget is tight, Topeak "explorer" is quite strong. About 40 bucks.
Both disc compatible.

My bikes are about form follows function and have mixes of chrome and black components, nothing matches and I don't care. So I was surprised when I saw that bike in the picture and my first thought was dayum, that is really nice looking.

The stainless steel Tubus racks look nice, stay nice looking, and work great. Buy once, and you're good to go for a very long time.

Most of the time, I'll go with function. But this bike is about stylin'. It happens to ride real nice too.

+1 on the tubus, I have the Fly, and love it, it's a very minimal design but still strong as hell.

I'm thinking of a Racktime Addit, which has a neat clip-on system for trunk bags etc. They're made by Tubus out of aluminum. The Addit costs ~$45.
