I much prefer flogging my bikes mercilessly to cleaning them.

i think i bought a stolen brooks b17 special saddle off craigs once. the guy was a real creep. maybe i shouldn't have bought it. i dunno. i really needed it at the time.
but ... if there's a flipper circle in dante's hell, i'm pretty sure i'll be near the top ... hopefully near the (other) prostitutes and self indulgent.
and as the talking heads sang, "heaven is a place ... where nothing ever happens..."

Along those lines, I prefer the shifting on my Victory-equipped bike to my first generation C-Record-equipped bike I was never sure if that simply meant I had a bad example of the latter?

I''m still a weight weenie. Not to go faster, but to feel faster (works when I'm riding alone on short hills).

That is absolutely brilliant! I LOVE IT!
It reminds me of a show I used to love called Babylon 5. In one of the episodes the show's Captain/main protagonist tells the show's villain (at least the villain at that point) that he's fed him a very sophisticated tracking/monitoring device. Later, the Captain's security officer tells him he didn't think they had anything like that...to which the captain responds that's the beauty...because it doesn't exist, they're going to torture the heck out of him looking for it.
(Yes, I'm a complete nerd)

I think my Shimano Tri Color is every bit as pretty as my Campagnolo NR. There, I said it.

Me too. More for nostalgia than anything else at this point.

I feel guilty about having sullied the reputation of my Nuovo Record parts by adding a triplizer and long cage to provide lower gearing.
Also, my brakes not only rub at 30 miles but both of my tires go flat by 60 miles.

I always thought Campy C-Record was fugly. Had it on team race bikes back when. Underwhelmed. Sold it a while back.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
Some may think that there are a multitude of sins but the only unpardonable sin is that of mixing Campagnolo with Shimano which will damn your soul to an eternal hell of multi use pathways that are populated with uncontrolled dogs and joggers who cannot hear you over their headphones.
One shudders to think of what an eternity of that would be like.
People are free to believe whatever they may but is the combination of disparate beliefs that truly angers our lord and saviour, blessed be his name.

I didn't have the heart to remind him I offered him my 26-lb Kona Lava Dome for $250, less than a year ago. And it's his size.
We're going to go out and ride the logging roads above town on Wednesday night and I'm gonna kick his 22-year-old soccer-star ass. On my Kona.

Took a two week holiday, left the bike(s) at home.
Passed many cyclists on the highways, both practical and heroic (riding a narrow switchback road up to a 6500ft summit in the Canadian Rockies, which happens to be covered in horseflies, anyone?)
I regret it, and feel the need to confess.
I rode my regular short evening route my second day back, and it felt good. Long ride this weekend.

My son, we all have these feelings at times and it is only through the grace of our lord and saviour, Eddy Merckx (blessed be his name) that we relent and do not act out on these fantasies.

Hail Coppi, full of grace...the Bianchi is with him...
Blessed are thou amongst Campy, and blessed is the fruit of thy yellow jerseys
Hail Coppi, champion of tours, pray for our triples
Now at the hour of our ascent
Amen
