Stop washing it, and stop taking a shower everyday. Get the large bottle of wine or hard liquor for pain.

I've had a few slides, one about a year ago, i always seem to do the skin over my hip. Last one about a year ago, as i was on the LTS-3.

Like the jeans protected my lower hip, and then the skin directly above was scuffed so badly it was dark red and sticky. The bottom half of the patch was flat where you could see where my jeans had been, it looked like half a slice of jam on toast.

I don't know how long it took to heal, i didn't take much notice. I left it alone. I don't do meds. It scabbed over but it remained as flexible as it needed to, wasn't a bother after the first day.

Thanks for clarifying. I had thought the photos looked pretty strong, but were integral to the thread.

Leaving in the hyperlinks seems to be a good solution.

Looks typical to me. That yellow stuff will come off in the shower.

I don't think this is close.

However, I am seeing several notes suggesting debriding necrotic tissue, although I can't see how bad it is.

Does the necrotic tissue or wound have a rotten odor?

The OP's first (and only) post here.

I think we're being played.

Either that, or after trying to post her photos over 20 times, she got tired and just left.

There are functioning links in past #11 , if that's the kind of thing you're into. Fair warning.

True, but c'mon..... the OP posts this here, rather than an "Ask an MD" type forum, then disappears.

Something smells fishy in the town of Denmark, if I may mix my metaphors.

maybe the OP died, did you think of that? Have some respect.

Okay, so it looks bad, but I have recovered from about the same kind of thing. When it gets that bad I have always taken baths with epsom salt until it starts looking better.

Hey, are you aware that most "flesh-eating" bacteria infections are contracted near or in a natural body of water? Perhaps you meant a salt bath in a clean bathtub, or a sterile saline rinse/debridement? Sure, the chances maybe low, but if loss of limbs and sepsis resulting in death are the prizes, I'd rather not play.

In the past, I wouldn't have given it a second thought! Warming ocean waters have apparently helped the little buggers (vibrio spp.) migrate farther north from their typical habitations in the warm waters of the gulf and the carribbean. Flesh eating bacteria was a gulf coast thing, until it wasn't anymore...

Your comments about ocean... popped up fish skin.

https://www.todayswoundclinic.com/ar...-3-fatty-acids

Apparently used with both acute and chronic issues.

However, it sounds more involved than slapping some fish skin from the local meat market on the leg.

I recommend a twice-daily application of Sriracha.
That should clear it up quickly.

Road Rash (me also)

I did this a week ago, and I am now half healed. It was also pretty deep, deeper than I thought now that I see it. Yes, yes, yes, keep it moist, so it will heal. How do I know? Had my eyelids fixed, and I remember the nurse saying "keep it moist." They healed beautifully when I did this. Do it u til its healed. I did use so e antibacterial cream, and then keeping it moist with neosporin. Also, once a day pop a vitamin E capsule, and spread this on to heal the scarring, happy healing. https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-pro...t/pac-20385174

It takes time. Hit an armadillo at 20 mph early one morning several weeks ago. In an instant I was grinding along the pavement. Forearm, hip, and shoulder. It was 3 or 4 weeks before I could dispense with the bandages.

The first word in Emergency Room is Emergency. I certainly would not consider your road rash an emergency. It's these type of walk-ins that get in the way of true emergencies saving life, limb, and eyesight. Besides, it's more costly going to the ER than going to an urgent care clinic which is far more appropriate anyways. If you thought the ER staff was useless, I'm sure they felt the same about you and wondering why you were even there.

To anyone else who ever gets this kind of injury. Clean the wound using Hibiclens or some other anti-bacterial (peroxide is no longer the go to for these kinds of wounds). Apply a triple antibiotic. Cover with a sterile dressing. Let it heal covered. The daily attention the o.p. was giving her wounds was slowing healing. Once you have cleansed the wound once you don't need to keep doing it. If the wound gets infected there will be pain and/or pus. You will know.
