I crashed enough riding mountain bikes in high school to make up for not crashing on the road recently.
Edit: also luck...people went down in front of me twice during rides this year and I just managed to avoid those crashes.

There are 2 classes of riders: those who have crashed; and those who will.

I've been riding for a month + and I knew it was inevitable, especially since my neighbor (who has been riding for years just fell a week or so prior).
I was lucky enough to be barely moving while making a u-turn. Couldn't get the clip out fast enough and ended up on the ground.
Maybe I'll be lucky enough to have gotten that out of the way while I was close to home!

This season has been extra painful for me.
-Random clip-out fail x2
-Run off the road by a motorcycle
-Wheel clipped by squirrely rider
-Trackstand fail
-Hit by a car
Hoping that next season fairs better.

Crashing mostly on MTBike rides. Last set of wrecks was in Oregon this past Summer on some serious trails. No crashes with the road bike, and don't expect to since I ride mostly solo...

Fell off riding as a kid a couple times, got thrown off in traffic in college when the chain dropped and somehow the bike stopped moving and I did not, fell down a couple times my first and last time on single track on the MTB, and crashed my road bike last week.
I fear the rollers we just got because I'm pretty sure I'll crash on those too.
What can I say. I'm accident prone.
And yeah, if you haven't crashed, bad juju to talk about it. Go find a piece of wood.
One of my friends was talking one track day (motorbikes) about having never fallen down. Guess what happened his next session out on the track?

What? This week? This year? WTF?
You WANT me to crash? Again?
Or you think the 41 is all virgins?
And you lust after other peoples misfortune?
Eff Yourself to sleep...

I crashed more than once. The only cyclists that don't crash are those who don't ride.

A week or so ago I installed a new crankset and derailleur on my bike. Hadn't quite worked all the kinks in the shifting out yet and was messing around with the cable tension on the barrel adjusters. I was looking down at the derailleur just coasting along about to stop to check it out because it sounded like something was rubbing a bit. I had unclipped but I came to kind of a slight hill that I wasn't paying attention to and stopped sooner than I had thought I would.
I ended up tilting a bit right (toward the remaining clipped in foot) and I knew I was going down. All I could think about was the bike! So as I hit the ground I pulled it up ontop of me. Not a scratch on it! Not even the pedals hit! (Though they are scratched up anyway so it wouldn't have mattered).
Bike is pretty new by the way. Only had it a couple months. Thus the protectiveness.

Has coddling tendencies.
All my pavement kissing moments have been at slow speeds, or when stopped - front tire slipping into a gap on a beach path, about to do a u-turn and front tire slips in gravel, user/cleat error. I've wondered myself when or if I'll ever experience a high speed crash. I've been riding bikes since age 14 and have yet to eat it at high speeds. :knock 41 woodhead: I can't honestly say why I haven't other than I'm a damn good cyclist.

I did it once a long time ago. I don't have any fond memories of it so I really try to avoid it.
