Gravel wheel set...
Thinking about adding a wheel set with slicks mounted tubeless.
Any thoughts on this wheel set?

Thanks

Huh? Shimano hubs are very serviceable. What are you talking about? It's a great price as well, depending on the spokes.

Yeah, this is the first time I've ever heard someone say a Shimano hub was not serviceable. They have stuck with the cup and cone bearings, even with the change to thru axles.

What I should have said is if you want something that you can service yourself easily Shimano is not the way to go. Have you all tried to rebuild a Shimano hub yourself? It really sucks compared to Dt swiss and hope.

I service my Shimano hubs all the time, no real problem, and no special bearings to purchase. I wish they had replaceable end caps, which is the reason I didn't purchase them for my newest bike.

I won’t get into the argument about the hubs, but I have ordered many times from Velomine and they are an excellent vendor.

$290 + $15 shipping seems like what you'd pay at the LBS, might as well buy from there. Also at ~2000 grams seems overbuilt if you're riding pavement.

Like I said while this would be a reliable wheelset it's not a deal. It's just regular price. You can get Dt swiss wheels at similar pricing that would actually be a deal. 2000g is quite heavy for a wheel like that. Hell that's the same weight as my Dt swiss wheels on my Enduro bike.

While I am not familiar with this specific hub almost all of the Shimano hubs I have worked on are very similar. In my experience they are easily serviceable at home. Some models might require specific parts to be rebuilt and can be hard to find, in one case it was easier and cheaper for me to order the entire inner hub assembly for an Ultegra 6800 hub. I can also confirm Velomine is a great vendor, never had an issue and they ship quick. Their website could use an update.

Thanks all. I pulled the trigger and the wheel set is on it's way. Should be here Friday. Have a cassette and rotors for it as well. Waiting on the Panaracer SK 700x32c tires from Panaracer now...

I know you already purchased but this is basically the same at a 1/3 of the price.

They'll be here tomorrow. Returning would likely be at my expense.
Shipping from Merlin is about $50.00 to my door... Also the Shimano wheelset doesn't mention being tubeless ready or tubeless compatible.
I think I'll stick with the DT wheelset but would have given these a go if I'd found them first.
