Info on Rolls Road Bike?

Joseph,
thanks! That is exactly what my first Rolls looked like in 1973. The West Point team acquired 10 that year and most were medium gray. The decals, lugs, components are identical (although the team bikes had Weimann center pull brakes reduce cost). Walt Grotz at CycleSport in NJ then offered cadets the same model for a great price in 1974 for their personal bikes (the 10 belonged to the school team), which is when I got mine in blue. Still have the five-cog Regina freewheel and the Campy components, although in a box because I converted mine to Campy fixed gear about 15 years ago, which I still ride regularly.
When and where did you acquire your Rolls?

I bought this as my personal bike from The Bike Rack in Queens, NY.
I liked it because of the Colnago connection. Mine is serial #2 .
I raced it in Prospect Park in some of the Criteriums the BBC used to run back then.
I refinished it about 20 years ago and never got around to putting it back together.
So whoever buys it gets it as-is along with some other goodies and extras.

One of the benefits of sheltering in place is that I moved ahead on my pet project.
Still a work in progress but you get the idea.

Tires are here. Just waiting on tubes. Freewheel will go on when I mount the new tires. Brake levers and cables have been installed and adjusted.
Chain needs clean and lube.

Nice bike JoeCP!
here's another pic of the Rolls I saved from the trash,
the fork is bent and I'm wondering if this is fixable?
any help would be appreciated or if someone has an extra hanging around..

On the fork, here's how I straightened one, and some follow-up discussion from more knowledgeable members that I thought was pretty helpful.

Good luck!

Maybe some people are lucky and have that figured out in advance.

Its coming along fine. Last touches later today. I'll post some completed photos later.
Yep. With the levers out of the way, it make life a lot easier. And as you can see.... a clean wrap.

1970's Rolls
Recently purchased a rolls bicycle owner had no info on the bike but it looked in good condition. Will post pictures once I cleared to do so.

Lake Luzerne
Now I realize you must be referring to Lake Luzerne on the Hudson River in northern New York. That must have been sometime after June 1975 if it was a USMA West Point team involved. During my time on the club and team at West Point 1973-1975, we participated in several races at Rockland Lake Park north of Nyack, and we sponsored several races on the USMA grounds at Round Pond and along the Hudson, but never any races up near Saratoga.

You got the location correct, Northern New York. It could have been 75 . The race was held in October, so you would have moved on by then.

West Point cycle team Rolls photos?
I noticed a great thread from 2004-2011 about Rolls bicycles, and I will post a good bit of information to that thread (if it is still open) about the top road racing "Strada Professionisti" frame that Rolls had made in Italy in the early 1970s. Our collegiate team at West Point used them 1973-1975, and for a few years more after I graduated in 1975. I still have mine and love riding it, although I converted it to a fixed-gear 16 years ago. I have photos of the original bike, the reconditioned Rolls, and information I'd be glad to share about the dozen or so Campy-equipped Rolls that we obtained through Cyclesport in Park Ridge, NJ, and the early days of collegiate racing that the West Point team was active in promoting on the East Coast in in the mid-seventies.
More to follow soon,
Mike

Frank,
I'm going through old Kodak slides now and getting them scanned. I know I have some good photos of college teams, races, and bikes from the 1973-1975 era. I will post them when I get the scans.

That is a reverse color scheme, but a very similar frame, to what I bought from Cyclesport back around 1972. Mine (stolen from a locked shed in our yard while family was on vacation) had Huret derailleurs as best I recall, but otherwise had the chrome "socks" front and back, and a cottered crank. My first road bike, and I think Cyclesport must have gotten a lot of folks started on cycling with the Rolls line of bikes back then!

What would one be worth today?
I have one in nice condition. Needs some TLC Awesome restoration project. Thinking about selling it. Write me if you have any information on pricing or any interest. Thank you, Christopher. I unfortunately can’t ad any photos now as a newbie. I will when I’m able to.
