Greetings! I’m new to the forum bc my internet searches keep sending me to these threads. Thanks, all, for sharing your experiences and bike photos! I live in the Twin Cities and have a weekend getaway place in North Iowa and keep bikes in both places. I currently ride a ‘73 Peugeot and an early 2000s K2 but just bought a vintage Italian frame that will be restored over the next few months. Looking forward to learning and celebrating everyone’s builds!

Welcome. And no it's not possible to have too many bikes. Where in North Iowa do you ride? I live in central Iowa. There is some fine riding in the NE corner of the state. I like the Root river valley area in MN a lot as well. There is a lot of good riding throughout Minnesota.
If you like restoring old bikes, you should visit and post in the C&V section. Old Italian bikes are cool. I'm rebuilding a Pinarello cyclo-cross bike from the mid 80s.

It would be fun to ask how many bikes you have in a couple years and if you still think it’s too many!

Thanks, all, for the warm welcome! bikemig , I spend most weekends in Clearlake. I can usually get a small group to ride around the lake but don’t mind riding solo. I am working up to ride there from The Cities one of these days (140 miles). Whereabouts are you? Agreed, it’s difficult to fathom having too many bikes but I’m running out of space for them and although I love the tandem, it’s a rare day that I can get a stoker. I’m currently building two bikes: a Pinarello Montello and a CBT Italia, both with mostly Campagnolo parts. The Pinarello came with Vitus 788 forks, so I’m looking for the correct set. The beauty of this past time is that we can build a beautiful ride and keep improving them over time.

Okay, so the problem is you have too little space, not too many bikes.

Welcome to BikeForums. I have 8 bikes. For me, that is too many. I try not to compare this number to what others have, that should not matter. I look at bikes, a lot, and see many bikes that I tell myself I want. Right now, I covet a very nice Merlin, F/F, CK headset and BB, at what I believe is a very good price and perfect size for me. If I just give it some time, usually, the want fades. This one has stuck with me.
Indeed, on BF, there are an incredible amount of pictures of very nice rides and a wealth of information available. I have learned much from the knowledge and generosity of its members. Enjoy the ride and be safe!
