Back from the Painter-busy February/March

A while ago I picked up this NOS SR Sakae New Royal Super Light stem, and now I'm glad I held onto it for so long.

In February and March one bike at a time I will finish the restoration/refresh of my Panasonic Team America Custom and 76-77 Tommasini Prestige bicycles.

The stem that was on the Panasonice Team America Custom wasn't per catalog specifications for the Dura Ace gruppo on the bike, but the New Royal Super Light stem seemed a perfect replacement and gave the right reach.

But those machined flutes in the stem while lovely just seemed off against the red of the frame, however I did have a matched pint of paint (though it will never glow like the original paint) so off to the paint shop.

And don't they look good together?

Pretty happy here.

Take Care.

Yours looks great with with the flutes painted! Well done

Gorgeous, and uncommon stems. I got lucky at the co-op & found one in the perfect length.

Cheers!

Thanks deux jambes, this is going to be a fun restoration. I'll be posting the finished choices in February or March as I finish these two bikes.

Yours look like on a lovely touring or rando bike?

It’s my ‘76 Eisentraut set up for front loaded touring. The Royal Super Light stem seems more of a racing component. But it’s such a good looking piece that I just couldn’t refrain from using it on a “slow” bike.

Looking forward to seeing your project when it’s completed. Have fun!
