propping your bike?
So sometimes I'll include a cafe or similar in my ride.
How do you guys prop your bicycle?
Sometimes its windy and even with some strategic maneuvering it could fall over.
Thanks

From memory, I think back tyre, seat and bars touching a wall is most stable next to just dropping it on the ground.

Of course with drive-side facing the pole or wall. Poles of some sort (eg. street signs) are good; use your helmet/strap to secure.

On a street sign or other vertical support, lean it on the (horizontal) NDS crank arm with the pedal positioned to keep it from rolling. I put a protective strip of helicopter tape on the crank arm for that purpose.

nifty gadget = bicycle parking brake
No matter where you lean your bike it is less likely to fall over if the front wheel is kept from moving on its own. One of these rubber thingies work surprisingly well at preventing your bike from falling over or even moving against the wall you lean it against.

Or use any big rubber band that could do the same job.

Here's a thought - set up the front brake with the QR open, and use that instead. Most wheel/tyre combos these days have no use for a QR, but you might want to keep the rear one available in case it goes out of true on a ride.

I lean my bike against a wall in my shop when I am not riding it. When I am out I have always used the rear wheel and at least on other point of contact to support the bike, otherwise just keep pedaling!

If it's so windy the bike will tip, then just put it on the ground to begin with.
I prop it against a wall, tree, other bike, or whatever else that is stable.
