Why don' tmany pros utilize aero wing handlebars?
I've been looking to replace my stem because the hardware sticks out a bit and I'll sometimes cut my knee on them when sprinting aggressively. So, while shopping for stems I noticed that most stems are 31.8 and are known to be stiffer than the smaller 26.0 clamp when matched to the proper handlebar. I saw that most companies now offer a wing or aero style handlebar now...the problem is that I couldn't find any images of pros that utilize this type of handlebar. Is it just a fashion thing as opposed to being practical? I'm not sure how much the wing could actually help you aerodynamically speaking but on the downside you don't have padding to rest your hands on the top part either. Thoughts please!

the problem is the carbon. My guess is that you don't see a lot of pros on carbon bars. Alu about the same weight and much more reliable in a crash.

Aero wheels, bladed forks, oval seat post tubing, shaved legs.......etc. everything is subject to aerodynamics. or soon will be....

Looks like you provided a pic of the autobus. Rule number one when providing a picture of rider behavior in a climb, if your picture has Robbie McEwen in it, there are probably not a lot of pure climbers in the picture
