@malcala622, is that for you or your sweetheart? My kid bought one for their wife, and it fits well. It's super nimble because the front end is so short and the wheel is so small. My daughter in law is learning how to handle it. She'd prefer a more sedate ride but this will do.

@ascherer do you have any impressions of the light yet? My spouse and I took a shopping ride and needed our lights on the way home. She has a B&M Eyc. The beam is a bit too narrow, but otherwise, it's a powerful light.

I mounted and rough wired the Secula yesterday and took a quick spin around the block last night.The near field was wide. It’s possibly less bright than I expected, but that impression may be slanted because this ride was on well-lit city streets and I haven’t aimed it carefully. I may take it out with one of those cheap Chinese lights we both have for comparison.

@ascherer B&M dynamo lights aren't amazingly bright. German law doesn't (or didn't) allow more than 3 watts which is boneheaded. So they engineered the heck out of the optics. If you aim it right, it's useful but never impressively bright. Make sure the top edge of the beam is horizontal. You can do this by putting the bike alongside a wall, but what I do is notice how high the beam is on a nearby object. I want it to be the same height as the light itself, maybe a tiny bit lighter so I can light up people's necks but not their faces. The cheapo Xanes light is probably brighter than your light.

Picked up a work bench for the shed/workshop last weekend using the trailer. Unfortunately I wasn't able to ride it home all by bike since I apparently didn't tighten the NDS crank bolt properly so it was working itself loose very quickly while riding after I replaced the bottom bracket. Rode it back to the metro and took that one home instead.

Tearing apart the shed the day after was fun though. The weather was nice and it felt good going through everything and reordering stuff for ease of access. Plus I like having all of my tools in one place now.

Side note, I really need to start getting rid of some spare wheels here. I have like 10+ spare wheels which I doubt I am going to use anytime soon.

Some small parts, a new crankset and a Zefal floor pump.
I bent my bottom bracket and cranks after bumping it into a speed bump at high speed while cornering and just replacing the bottom bracket showed the cranks were busted too.
Gotta say a slightly wider bottom bracket (119mm vs 115mm) makes for a smoother pedal stroke but not scraping the inside of the chaincase helps too.

For 50's Dutch track frame I'm in the process of building: Bayliss Wiley hubs and BB, Lyotard pedals, Wienmann rims, integrated steel bar and stem, "unused" crankset and rear sprocket. Bought as a box of "odd stuff"; some spare pedals and one odd part that I am not familiar with: a miniature "turnbuckle". No idea what it is for. Is anyone familiar with this on a '40s/'50s track bike?

I received a pair of Specialized hubs which I got for short money. They are a bit scraped up but turn smoothly. I'll spend a bit of time polishing them before lacing them.

I couldn't wait 'til I got home; NOS Magic Guanto Moser hour record commemorative gloves from '84/'85. They will add a certain panache when riding the '85 and '87 Mosers. Great gloves regardless of aesthetics. M. G. is still out there making cycling apparel.

I have seen those in pictures attached to the top tube and the saddle nose. I quest to keep the saddle from lifting up when in a hard charge?

Hello,
I did not get these in the mail but on my way home from "Trader Joe's", I spied a bicycle wheel and pulled a U-turn and went back masked.
The seller was tired and in the process of closing up, he told me the day was long and there weren't that many buyers. I asked if he had anything else bike-related, he didn't know and told me he picked this stuff up at a storage auction and he thinks that there might be some other junk but hasn't gone through everything yet.
I gave him my number and asked him to call if anything else turns up...keeping my fingers crossed that the front wheel will turn up.


Happy to get the stands so I don't have to prop my bikes against the wall anymore!

I haven't had any issues. Even with the front wheel aligned straightforward theres less chance of it swinging around and hitting the top tube.

Theyre very stable even if you bump into them.

Another Sturmey Archer GH-6 dynohub, this time in 32H.
I'm still on the fence if I'm going to use the 40H alloy FM 4-speed hub for that period correct 32H front 40H rear English setup or a more modern 28H front and rear by swapping out the FM to a steel AW 28H hub, if that is even possible.



EDIT: Oh and a Koga-Miyata head badge, probably going on the SilverAce in time.
