I know this thread is old but I am hoping for get some information from owners of SC's from the 1980-1990's.
Question 1: I acquired a dark blue SC (SLX tubing) with Dura Ace 7400 series group set. The previous owner said he acquired the bike new in 1987 but I know the DA-ST-7400 shifters that came on the bike were only available from 1990 onwards.
Anyway, upon stripping the bike and examining the frame in more detail I noticed the following numbers stamped on the BB and fork steerer tube. 90 / 898 Could this represent the 90th frame manufactured in August 1989?
Question 2: The frame is not in great shape, especially the paintwork and I am considering having it resprayed. The chrome will be cleaned up and left original.
My question is I can't seem to find out if the SC's from that era were available in metallic pink?

I have a 1990 Super Corsa, so I’ll check the BB stampings. It’s on display but the shop is open, so I’ll call them later.

there is only ONE color suitable for a true vintage Suoer Corsa and that is silver paint with chrome lugs.
the epitomie of classy! the only acceptable second color choice is rose (Cino's favorite) the only other
color I might entertain is yellow with a red headtube if it is in fact a Superlight

I was in the market for a new steel frameset, and was caught between the Cinelli Supercorsa and the Colnago Master. Cinelli in icy blue, or the Colnago in red. Tough call!

I went with the Colnago due to the *Gilco tubeset. It should be shipping from Italy any day now!

* Yeah, I know.......................

I believe silver was the orginal color?
I have an '85 Cinelli made for Centurion in the silver, my '90 SC is crème...
One goes with black, one goes with brown. I've always liked the China Blue.

At a couple of shows, I've seen Cino and his wife's "cruisers," and they were brown.

Technically, Cinelli "rose". Mauve by any other name. (I have a pic of Heidi's (Mrs. Cinelli's) bike somewhere, can't find it right now.)

For Cinelli's "first" color, the 1947 Ciclismo Italiano mentions "bone". Don't know if it was actually first, but I like it.

The as mentioned 1947 Ciclismo Italiano and and subsequent 1948 edition featuring the Milano bike show highlights Cinelli's city bikes over the road bikes. Makes sense, typically the top end city bikes brought in more the road bikes. I figure the early days of all builders in Italy they built for the "masses".
