Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I’ve been watching these colorized, speed adjusted videos on YouTube and they’re quite amazing! One of the most noticeable differences from the earlier videos, before cars took over, is that people used to actually walk in the streets. Thanks for sharing!

Jeez that is crazy. They knocked dude off and beat the tar out of him with snowballs and that one dude appeared to try to steal his bike?

Cool video but damn.

Snowball fight with Lumiere (pioneer of cinema) cranking away with an artfully placed movie camera, but they don't throw any at him; bike rider happens to fall when he's precisely centered in the shot. Hmmm.

True true but it is still rather rough. It's not like you can CGI or put in the stuntman with some padding back then.
