Bikes You plan on keeping in 2020 ?
Im referencing rjhammett s thread he started asking what bikes we planned on getting rid of in 2020 and when i started thinking - i thought - "What bikes am i NOT getting rid of or wanting to get rid of?
that thread
https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...id-2020-a.html
Keeping my late model roadie
Keeping the late model track bike
Keeping my old DeBErnardi
Likely keeping this old Colnago
Daily driver YEti MTB is a keeper until its replaced with whatever is the latest and greatest
I'll be keeping this one too - but its main use is to hold up the wall
Undecideds -- wouldn't really hurt my feelings much to see these go, but they are nice to look at ---
Patriotic PDG
Waterford track bike -- I bought this one new - so don't know yet --- im 50/50 on getting rid of this one or keeping it

Keeping all four of them. I regret selling some in the past, I’ll hold on to what I have as long as possible, might even add one more in 2020.

I’ve had many bikes pass through my possession in the years gone by. In fact, I’ve never kept a bike for the full course of a year.
I sold three bikes in ‘19. Went a few months with out one afterwards. Finally built one however. It’s my current, and only rider. It’s also turned out to be the best fitting, most comfortable riding, and most versatile bike I’ve ever owned to date. I plan on keeping my ‘76 Eisentraut Limited Touring in 2020, and in the years to come. It feels like a lifelong friend!
Once the Benotto is built, hopefully by spring, I honestly foresee that bike as a potential keeper for 2020 as well, if not much longer.

Most of my bikes will stay, however, I've been thinking of a smaller collection. It's a slow process, but I think I know where I want to end up.
Regularly ridden:
Ditto:
Too small, but too beautiful to let go:
Drillium display bike. Most of my first efforts found their way onto this frame, and I did a fair bit of frame modification on this before the repaint. Maybe one day I'll glue on the tubular tires and put it into rotation!
Zero bike (in Phoenix at the home place):
You can have this one when you've pried it from my cold, dead hands:
For now, this stays - but I've been thinking of letting it go:
This one is sticking around for sure. It might continue to evolve component-wise, but I plan on riding this one into the ground over the remainder of my lifetime:
That's it for keepers in 2020. The two below will find their way to alternative stables in the year to come.
The Somec was disassembled this past summer to make way for the Bianchi. Still have the frame, but the parts have sailed. I'll get 'round to unloading the frame one day...
Next to be disassembled and the parts re-distributed...

I'm keeping all of mine, too. I've only sold one bike in 70 years, traded one, and gave one to a needy friend, an old SR, a survivor of several garage sales, but that was years and miles ago. I tend to keep my stuff, been riding the same Legnano Roma for 55 years. But that's just me.
We were both new in 1964.

I intend to finish some projects. Then I will worry about keeping them.
There are a few that should move to the departure lounge. My kids are no longer small, and my wife only needs a road bike and a grocery getter.
Actually, she would say e-bike.

Made for me and it fits my son.
This one is awesome at pulling a trailer full of groceries.
This one replaced one that I wish I never got rid of.
Because I need a 531 race bike.
This will be a drop bar gravel bike.

Bikes: Ron Cooper touring, 1959 Jack Taylor 650b ladyback touring tandem, Vitus 979, Joe Bell painted Claud Butler Dalesman, Colin Laing curved tube tandem, heavily-Dilberted 1982 Trek 6xx, René Herse tandem

Ron Cooper never gets sold. It is a family heirloom. I may braze on some mounts for those Paul Racers and some lowrider mounts to separate the top platform from the pannier carriers and free-up the fork to flex a bit more, however they don't make that color powder coat anymore (Prismatic # PSB-6780 Robins Egg). I might also build a lighter front wheel. Maybe an SP hub or a Shimano 3N72? I figure I can cut 2lbs of fat from this bike and not sacrifice durability.
Herse is a forever kinda bike. Still working on it though, sorry about so few updates lately!
Taylor was gonna be a flip, but it edged out the Laing this year as most-ridden tandem even though I didn't get out with it until August or September. It needs a longer stem. I was thinking about a VO Grand Cru, but I don't like the porportions so I think I have to make something. I'm going to fillet braze it out of 7/8" steel tube, and make it about 135mm extension so I can really fit on the thing. I know it ain't right, but I love the way it rides and owes me nothing but keeps giving! I also have a chain (3 chains actually), French freewheel, and bar tape for it.
Laing is the only tandem I can ride with tall friends, so it's getting converted to front-drive with Zephyr cranks I bought for a song and a new fork with more rake for lower trail to make it less of a runaway train at high speeds and a better front rack to replace that Minoura rattletrap (possibly the front rack off my Ron Cooper).
I'm mad at the Vitus, so I was thinking about selling it. It is begging to be ridden but I think those Superbe Pro pedals have to go. The prongs give my flipperlike feet a valgus tilt and I end up hurting by the end of a short ride. But it goes so fast! ...so fast apparently I have no pictures of it.

Where’s the line for DD’s orange Colnago start?
After a long period of swapping bikes in and out, I’ve landed on bikes that will be with me for a while. Although I did have the Colnago ‘sold’ last year I decided to keep it. These all fit all my riding needs. Listed in most ridden to least.

No telling what 2020 will bring. I am building my bike shop inside my tool grind shop. I just sold my CNC grinders and doing old school , new idea , custom grinding from here on out. This leaves a bit more time for bikes. I pretty much have the collection where I want it at this time . I have a couple of French bikes that need my attention so I will slowly get those on the road. The rest of my time will be riding and maintaining what I have. Drillium Dude, I am happy to hear you plan to keep the Medici, you are right about the ride of these underdogs. They are magnificent bikes , very quick and comfy! Joe

2019 was the year of "getting down to 54's,"
However, I may be keeping 1 bike in Ohio, and 2-3 in Missouri, so it won't seem like a lot. (yeah, right)
This way, I can ride my motorcycle there and not have to haul a bike.
I'm keeping, complete bikes:
Merckx "Professional" 54cm 9sp DA
Bob Jackson Limited Edition 54cm 9sp DA
Giant Cadex CFR-1 54cm 9sp DA
Raleigh Competition 54cm 9sp Ultegra triple
Battaglin 54cm 10sp Centaur triple
Colnago Super 55cm 10sp Centaur
Look KG196 54cm 10sp Veloce
Litespeed Classic 54cm 11sp Ultegra
Wraith Hustle 54.5cm 11sp Ultegra
Fiorini SL Custom 54cm 11sp DA
Trek Y-Foil 56cm 11sp DA, as I search for the "right" 54cm frameset
Wraith High Street Pursuit, track bike.
To build, but keeping. I'm stocked up on groups, I think....I think:
Cinelli Equipe Centurion 54cm
Guerciotti 54cm
Basso Loto 54cm
Centurion Ironman 54cm, if I can get the seat post out.

My few rides are all 'keepers' plus there are a couple or three in the works! One will be a custom frame (still contemplating) built 'antique' style to accept a Campagnolo Paris-Roubaix derailleur. I have the correct Campagnolo 19 tooth drop outs. Another will get a Campagnolo Cambio Corsa derailleur. Those frames use 17 tooth drop outs and I have one!

...from all the "prices are waaaay down" threads lately, I think all of them are worth more to me than they are to someone else.
Which is a shame, but if that's how it is, that's how it is.

That's cool
Reminds me of Patek Philippe's popular tagline: "You never actually own a Patek Philippe. You merely look after it for the next generation".
