One day to ride 39 miles to hit my 250 goal.
Bike was in the shop, work was too much, and weather was too unpleasant to do more.

Bicycle Therapy
9/2 23.32 miles (LifeTaker - Specialized Allez Sport Ultegra road bike) - Sloppy, windy ride. First ride in a few days after a bug. Prospect segment and a run around Gedney Farms
9/4 35.22 (LifeTaker) Nice loop around the Kensico and Westchester Airport. Fun hills and crazy potholes. Hit a cross wind on a highway overpass that had an ankle-high guardrail (so it seemed). Fear is a good motivator.
9/7 20.31 (KillerElite -- NEW -- 2017 Specialized Roubaix SL4 Sport 105) New bike shakeout ride. Carbon frame really smooths out the bumps.
9/10 41.52 (KillerElite) Lovely ride in the country....followed by sheer terror on local roads
9/12 38.62 (KillerElite) Long ride with a few hills causing me angst. New bike is amazing...the rider not so much
9/14 55.51 (KillerElite) Put the Ultegra wheels on new bike....really flies. Two rainstorms so I had to use an alternate route over the dam
9/17 38.51 (KillerElite) Run up to the dam and back...WTF is that creaking noise in my BB?
9/29 (KillerElite) Finally back on the road. Felt great to stretch out and just ride....no thinking, just pedaling
MTD 279.64 miles of 500
Mom out of hospital, but really diminished mental and physical capacity. Life enters another chapter. Getting on the bikes will be my therapy, so I'll steal an hour or so when I can

Well rain today means I finished this month with just shy of 80 miles... this whole year has been a washout. Two charity rides, and only a handful of solo rides, I believe I just barely broke 1000 miles - an all time low for the first time in 4 years. I'm not done yet, although the next couple months are going to be a mixed bag, highly dependent on the weather, either way I'm not ready to hang the bike up and return to the torture chamber.

Weather didn't cooperate this month, but still not bad. Last few days have been absolutely gorgeous, and the first time I've ridden 14+ miles on consecutive days. Best part is my knees aren't bothering me at all! May not get a ride in tomorrow, but we'll see. Rainy days are why I keep the gym membership active (plus the upcoming winter months).

114 miles. Lost time to visits from family, laziness, and crotch rot. 85 to go to reach 2017 goal of 1,000 - 3-4 more rides, I think.

9/29 - ??? does Zwift count?
9/30 - ??? took GF mtn biking for the first time. Didn't track miles.
Total for the month - 417.1 mi
Well the month ended in an odd fashion. We (girlfriend and I) wanted to try Zwift so we did that after work on Friday. I was sweating buckets and need to work on my trainer setup (i.e. need fans badly) but it was so much better than any trainer riding I've done in the past. On Saturday we signed up for a beginners MTB course. GF has only really ridden a bike since July other than in childhood (now mid 30s) and I had this plan that if we took a MTB class her bike handling would be improved. I think I'm right...and she didn't hate the class or the group ride after. We didn't track miles that day but I think we did around 10. All in all a great month cycling.
Saturday also marked fall weather actually arriving here in PA. Windy and never got above 60 deg all day...most of the clinic was in the low 50s with a stiff wind. Woke up this AM and look out and the sun is shining...and it's 45 deg. lol

Goal 500 MTD 381
9-2 54 Rode with my father had a great time. Last 4 miles where sheer agony! Another single ride distance record for me.
9-4 20 Nice ride on the rail to trail on my Jamis.
9-5 40 Sunny temps in the 50's would have been great except the first 20 miles into 25-35mph wind, was fun on the return trip though!!
9-6 10 Just a quick ride
9-7 15 Warmer today so I rode my Jamis for a bit on the rail to trail.
9-9 45 Huskers were getting stomped late in the first half so I took off for a ride. Got the heck bit out of me in the dark on the return trip. No more dark rides, at least until the bugs die for the year.
9-11 15 on my Jamis, I was going to do 11 but forgot to turn around at 5.5.
9-12 20 Really sucks riding with a cold, really wanted to do 45 but 20 was all I could muster.
9-16 40 This cold really kicked my butt, ride today was rainy the whole way and into a 10-20mph wind the whole way back. I am a bit behind, hopefully I can still make my goal.
9-19 25 This cold just refuses to die, mostly its just making me extremely tired now.
9-20 15
9-26 25 Wonderful fall chilly 55 degree ride, if not for the stiff north breeze in portions of the ride it was near perfect.
9-30 55 New record for single ride, gorgeous 55-62 degree crisp fall ride on The High Trestle Trail in Ankeny, Ia. It was a blast, rode with my father and brother. Could not have asked for better weather the whole weekend!
Obviously I was well short of my goal. I was able to do the full ride yesterday but man it took a toll, still exhausted today. It was a fun first half of the month until I got sick, hopefully I recover and have a good month in October, I do much better outside when its cool so I am hoping to get a lot of riding in.
