Don't know which forum to post to about tires
I'm looking for a very specific tire and I'm having a hard time. I realize that I'm going to have to compromise but it seems that I can only come up with options that are ridiculously expensive.
I'm looking for a tire that's 26 x 2.0-2.25, tubeless compatible, minimal tread (mostly commuting and light gravel), and won't cost $120+.
Am I doomed to the $80 for a compass tire?

Can you still get Continental Town and Country tires? They're probably not tubeless compatible and may be fairly heavy, but they're not (weren't?) that expansive.

I like Schwalbe Marathons, I am not sure that you have many options with tubeless 26x2.0

I think most tubeless 26in tires will lean toward an aggressive tread. Not sure the market is there for the tire you are looking for in tubeless as compatible 26in rims are uncommon for non mountain bikes.
However, there are lots of non tubeless options, such as Maxxis DTH and Schwalbe Marathon Supreme.

I too love the Schwalbe Marathon classic (no experience in their 2.0+ sizes though).
Don't buy them (or anything else) from Damnazon though. I recommend UniversalCycles .com for online purchases.

I have toyed with the idea of going tubeless, but I really don't find tubes to be a major inconvenience.
+1 for Schwalbe. I really like the Big Apple, which is available in 26 x 2.0 and 26 x 2.1.

I just put some Michelin Proteks on my old Rockhopper to commutify it. Great tires, but not tubeless ready.
