Someone mentioned security in the garage; I hang my bikes as I mentioned, I run a long cable through my bikes and lock it. Cable is not real high security but they have to break into my garage, then cut the cable, a lot of work to do with a high risk of getting caught as time elapses while my alarm is calling the cops.

4 hooks that hang bikes from the rear wheel.
1 bike hung by both wheels
I made wheel hooks from wire coat hangers and put fuel hose over the hook to protect them. I have enough for 8 wheels.

the back of my garage has an enclosed workshop type area. I keep my bikes in there. I made a few stands with pVC pipe and board. (from a seth's bike hacks video)
my father in law almost everytime they visit says that we have a huge garage for era our house was built in. I like the extra space.

Just purchased a new home and looking at setting up the garage. Previously, I have used a few of these and it worked pretty well:

Of course, I see many of my neighbors that leave their garage doors open all day and into the night. It's like they've never lived in a city or had anything stolen before.

I keep my bikes in the house.Garage doors are the most proficient way to gain entry into your space/house.All bikes are stored on the wall like pieces of art without wheel sets.I use a roller that attaches to my chain-stay for the chain.My only problem now is storing wheel sets without damaging the spokes in my garage.I have a few ideas that I’ve been tossing around in my head.
My reasoning is if someone breaks into your house they may pass up your beloved frame-set since it has no wheels, same if they got into your garage it’s just wheel sets no frame can’t ride it.

I have three of those HF cycle trees. The one in the garage is the old style that I've had for 15 years or so. They each have 6 bikes on them. I haven't found a better way to keep as many bikes in as small of a footprint.

My apartment is such that in order to store my bike efficiently I need to hang it by one wheel. Does anyone in this thread have experience hanging their bicycle by one wheel without any other support? I just want to make sure the weight of the bike pulling down from one point couldn’t possibly stress the wheel or fork? Might be a dumb question but I want to be sure!

I use the Harbor Freight bike rack. Works great, and is built very well. The casters are nice, I can wheel it out of the way when I need room for something else.
I've heard of other people getting 6 bikes on their racks, but I don't think I would put any more than 4 on it. Seems to be a really tight fit for 6 bikes.

The rubber coated hooks have worked perfectly for my bike storage needs for decades. Just make sure you screw the hooks into a ceiling joist.
