Just recently stepped into that particular prairie dawg hole myself, your C&V doppelgänger was kind when I did......
Thanks once more for keeping the flame lit, headed to make a donation shortly.

Last few days Velobase is on- and offline? I have quite some trouble getting in contact with the site from The Netherlands? It says that the page has time out or something and that it takes too long to load the page?

Tagging @cuda2k in case he hasn't seen this already. I just got the same error message, the message is similar to what we've used at a couple of different hosting companies I've worked at over the decades when there's a major issue, either with billing or a customer causing technical issues for our equipment and/or other customers.

The screen shot that shows "This site has stepped out for a bit" came up most of the day along with a message in the tab that stated "Site Suspended". I just tried it a few minutes ago and V-B came up just fine so perhaps the problem has been resolved.

Spent the better part of my morning telling my webhost how totally unacceptable it was that they brought my site down with no warning. They claimed they had sent me an email a week ago (OVER THE HOLIDAYS?!?!), but I never received that, and only read the email sent on the 2nd this morning. VeloBase.com should be back up again. I want to thank those that have donated recently, I have gotten a number of very generous donations in the last few months. Never fear, VeloBase.com isn't going anywhere, and I am starting work on changing web hosts so this doesn't happen again.
And if your'e wondering, they suspended my account because I had a backup of VeloBase.com from a couple years ago, and a backup of my wife's coffee blog on the hosting account, well below the 'account maximum disk space', and they said it wasn't an appropriate use of the hosting space. WTF.

I'm on Namecheap myself now. Server access performance is sometimes spotty, but at least my Wordpress-based pages work decent on their servers.

Still can't beat Dreamhost, honestly. Granted, I'm grandfathered in under my ancient reseller package but ... my offer for free LAMP hosting stands, although may not be a good fit for your needs.
If you want to relocate to Dreamhost with a more tailored package supporting .NET and other things VeloBase may use etc, LMK. EDIT: I can give referral links that will reduce hosting rates, and can toss out a coupon code I used to have that would drop Unlimited Hosting rates below $2/mo for the 1st year. PM for details. (offer is open to anyone interested if you need it)
Besides their low domain registration services, one-click-install options, the sensible cpanel they're using, prices are reasonable, uptime is virtually infinite. Thinking back over 10 years, can't recall a single maintenance interruption which has been great. I only had one case where an update to a cpanel page removing Google Sites integration caused a small DNS headache (MX related) I was able to quickly resolve with no email lost.

Bringing this thread back rather than making a new one - to anyone who saw VeloBase down today, it's back and running. That was my doing as I was deploying the first new build in probably 3-4 years. It is the first in an update to reduce the spam/bot problems, and increase overall security. There will be a few more updates to come, but hopefully those will go a bit smoother.
Spent a good portion of the weekend knocking the dust off the code for VeloBase and trying to make some much over-due updates to it. Unfortunately life and other pursuits have pretty much diminished how much time I've got these days to regular updates, but I am committed to maintaining it long term.
