Show Your C&V Shoes

Bought them new in '85 when I bought my. Pug. I still wear them every ride. They have the '84 L.A. Olympics logo on the side. Jon

I've got about 4 or 5 pairs of vintage shoes, but this pair of wood soled Dettos are the clear winner in terms of condition and just plain sex appeal.

the only disadvantage is that they are too beautiful to actually use. The soles would get scraped up while trying to flip the pedal over.

My only pair of old-style cleated shoes. What I noticed on using them is not so much the benefit from having cleats as not having them when going back to street shoes after riding in cleats. These also have wooden soles but not the *****in' polished ones above.

I have three sets of slotted-cleat shoes I still use regularly with my fixed-gear bikes. The pair on the left is fleece-lined for winter riding. The pair with the nailed-on metal cleats I only use with steel cage pedals. The final pair with plastic cleats I use with aluminum cage pedals.

I still wear these Avocet shoes occasionally when I am on an older bike with toe clips. I bought them around 1984. They were looking pretty ugly until I ran them through the washing machine and put in new laces.

Avocet

Still using my old Avocet 20s. I gave them a "stiffening" treatment a little while ago since either the soles were getting less "firm" or I was getting more sensitive to the pressure. No complaints since!
