Repair help?
i have a schwinn luxe triple chainwheel with long-cage mountech derailleur in rear.
the rear derailleur has an easily removable tension pulley but the guard pulley has a flat spring i cannot remove to replace the pulley can anyone tell me how to access this pulley/remove spring? thanks

thanks for your reply the guard pulley is completely smooth [no teeth] and frozen so the chain just slides across it should i replace the rear derailleur ? and if so, any suggestions on what type would fit and not break the bank? i got the bike for 60 dollars

A long cage Suntour of the era would do well, like a Cyclone GT, Blue Line GT, or something in the V series (VGT Luxe, VX-GT). They’re simpler, lighter, and very reliable. You can search eBay for “Suntour long cage” and see what pops up to start research, and you should not have to go too far north of $20 with a little patience.
