eZip Trailz LS - 2013
Just received my 2013 EZip Trailz LS - Low Step - Womens's
Unbeatable deal!
$333 - including tax - including delivery! ... Price has been slowly but steadily rising!!
2 days shipping, from Amazon.com
Pros ...
Price
Complete, ready to go eBike
"Manly" blue color
Small bottle of touch up paint
$20 upgrade for 20mph capable
Cons ...
Heavy steel and battery
Stiff shifter
Budget components
SLA battery
Improvements ...
Painted rack
Large foot on kickstand
Dual - brake motor cutoff
Deeper tread on tires
Quiet motor - XYD-16
Removable freewheel
Guard protecting derailleur
Better looking RMB battery case
Detriments ... bad improvements
Separate PAS\TAG switch
Poor, battery condition led, placement
Still needing improvement ...
Better rear hub - thin flange poorly supports spoke elbow
Motor side spokes - laced in wrong direction! ... still!
Affordable ... Lithium pack.
Odd ...
The brush side motor cover has slots at the screws.
Possibly to adjust brush timing for higher speed - more torque?

Choose Color : Blue
Red is more expensive 2012 model!
Confirmed as 2013 Model!

eZip Spoke-Wheel Cure
1. Spoke flange is too thin to properly support the spoke, at the elbow.
2. Typically, one side is laced so as to provide maximum stress on the spoke elbow.
So ... I decided to "fix" the problem!
"Properly" redirecting the old abused spokes worked fairly well. About 2000 miles before the next broken spoke.
Found a much better hub. Got a few, dirt cheap - no one knew what they were for?
Decided to try an indestructible rebuild!
12g spokes pulled tight to the hub flange, using #4 SS washers.
Enarmored!
Due to the greatly enhanced strength, the wheel was now the weakest link . So I added washers.
Seated on a couple wraps of duct tape.
Will post thread chronicling a 14g to 12g rebuild.

eZip Trailz goes Li-ion
Oh no!
Looks like Currie is discontinuing the SLA equipped Trailz!
Now available are the Trailz, with 9.6Ah Li-ion battery for ~$749.
