Came across these earlier today, while searching for a solution to the problem of liking pants with cargo pockets, but being frustrated by the overly-baggy fit of most of the ones I have. I've read a bit about the regular Commuter jeans, but these appear to be a different material, a couple different features, and maybe a slightly different cut? I haven't been able to find much in the way of reviews of them, though.

I've been wearing BDU pants for years - never had any issues with those with my first two adult bikes (vintage ones with chainguards and single-speed chainlines), but my Volpe's triple crankset and lack of a chainguard has made things a little more complicated. I have a pair of reflective velcro ankle straps, but they're annoying to deal with if I just want to make a quick journey, and it's getting to be too cold out to want to roll up the pant legs.

I've got a pair of VertX pants, that are overall better than the BDUs when it comes to bike wear, but I also have a pair of Wrangler cargo khakis that were given to me by my housemate - they're an overall much baggier fit than most of my other pants, which isn't really the look I'm going for, and of course they absolutely require rolling up or straps.

I have a pair of Dickies Slim Straight work pants, which I basically like the look of, but they're a little too tight in the thighs (although I wonder if going up a size might help?). Haven't tried them on the bike without rolling up the legs, though...and they don't have the cargo pockets, which messes with me a bit.

Depending on brand, I'm somewhere in the 32-34" range, waist-wise, with 23" thighs and 15-1/2" calves.

I have two pair of the Levis Commuter Pants but they're not the cargos.
I like them a lot, particularly in cooler weather. They are a bit hot in the summer.
The description sounds pretty close to the same material but I'm no expert.

I have some of the original first-year Levis commuter pants, and like them, but the cuff isn't so tight fitting that you can dispense with rolling it up or using an ankle strap. Left down and unrestrained, the pant leg cuff will eventually touch the chainring enough to get grubby, even if it doesn't actually get snagged.

One of the things that intrigues me about the cargo version, is that they have the snap thing on the ankle, to tighten them up.

They're "slim cut". If they're anything at all like the commuter jeans--also slim cut--you won't fit in them.

My measurements are almost exactly what yours are. In Levi's, I buy 501s in 32W 34L and after a few washings those look and feel painted on me. Wondering about their commuter jeans which I could get only online, I tried their slim cut jeans in the store (promptly forgot which model number) and couldn't get them up much past my knees.

I'm not sure why they're making pants for cycling that have no room for a cyclist's quads. My rippin' quads want to rip right out of them.

I found out that one of the Macy's locations nearby, where a friend of mine works, has them in stock, so I'm gonna go there next weekend and hopefully try them on.

When hipsters grow quads, I'm sure Levi's will take notice.

Just joking, but really I think their target audience are young adults who want to look cool riding their bike to school/work/etc. Nothing wrong with that.

I have trouble getting my legs into "skinny jeans" but the commuter jeans have enough stretch and are large enough to fit. That's the original commuter jeans.

I've got a pair of 5.11 pants that would do everything those Levis can do if I sprayed them with Camp Dry,and they cost half as much and fit me proper.

lately I've been bike commuting home in my regular Levi's and I've found that its really not bad. I guess it works this time of year because the cool weather keeps me from sweating much. In the morning I wear some type of sweat pants, but in the afternoon I've been saving the 5 or ten minutes it takes to change to try and get most of my ride done before it gets completely dark. I just tuck my pants into my wool socks and I'm off!

It doesn't hurt that they can charge $100 (MSRP) for them. They must love collecting that bike clothing vig us cyclists have to pay.

Remember slim is not the same thing as a skinny fit. I wear "slim straight" American Eagle Outfitter jeans and they fit great. They actually fit kind of baggy once they stretch out. I wouldn't be caught dead in skinny jeans. The slim moniker has more do with the size of the leg opening at the ankle.

I've been really happy with Diamond Gusset jeans. They have several different choices of fit. None are really bike specific, but they are made with a special panel in the crotch so you are not pressured by all those fat seams in critical places.

Thanks for this thread. I picked up a pair of the regular commuter pants. They arrived yesterday and I love them. They are very comfortable. The fabric stretches slightly and the gusseted crotch makes them very comfortable. I actually needed a new pair of pants for travel. I fly often once or twice a week, and like to wear something I can wear on stage as well, in case my luggage gets lost. I'm an entertainer. These look great, they look like a nice pair of casual pants, not like jeans. Jeans also tend to hold odors, the commuter pants are treated to prevent that. They also are treated to repel water and stains. They should be easy to clean anything that may spill on them. I love these pants. They also seem to be comfortable on the bike. I am very impressed.

I have to fly tomorrow from the East coast to Hawaii and then back on Sunday so I will give them a good test. I cannot say enough how much I like these pants.

I picked up a pair of the Commuter Cargos and they're pretty much the worst pants i've ever owned. Weirdly heavy feeling because each pocket is actually two pockets (envelope style and a snap pocket on top of that), the cut is really bizarre, and the back pockets line up with the saddle.

On the other hand, I've had nothing but good experiences with Swrve's jeans and pants and most of the outlier line. I hadn't realized how good they were until I tried the Levi's.

Cyclists come in all shapes. Some very good cyclists have thin legs. I have huge thighs but I'm not amazingly strong.

i have the Levi's commuter jeans and the fit well. They're "skinny" jeans, and not super small at the bottom - and do get covered in grease from my chain

picked these up tonight. they need to be shortened because they only come in one length but lululemon does it for free in shop. but they fit great, and are lightweight. they also come in fully lined version as well but i didn't want that since i wanted a more versatile all-season pair of bike pants.
they also have a draw string at the cuffs to adjust length and keep one leg up for the drive side, etc.

If you get the original commuter jeans, they have a zippered stash pocket at the small of your back. Unusual feature, of arguable utility.

When you put slim cut jeans on, all you need is some red pants to put over them, and a big vest.

I like slim fitting pants, but after a couple years of squatting, it's impossible to ride in jeans unless I get a relaxed fit.

I have the Levi's Commuter Cargo Pants.

Throwing a leg over the bike is something I have always had a problem with using most pants. These are no different. Also, the material pulling taut at the corner of the pockets every time I get on my bike is tearing the fabric of the pants at that seam. So, at the inside top corner of each cargo pocket, there's a hole.

I like Prana pants with stretch in the fabric, but I have to wear a velcro strap at the cuff. I will probably be getting some Musa pants from Rivendell.
