2012 Colnago Master X Light Saronni PR82 build. Lovin' the steel ride!
I've been reading up a lot on steel bikes and scored this beauty of a frameset from eBay. Had to say goodbye to my trusty Moto LeChamp Team Ti frameset and moved all the parts over to the Master. It is by far one of the most beautiful bikes I have ever owned.
Total Weight = 17.94lbs
100% Italian Steel
The chrome lugs are just a sight to behold!
Carbon fork? Not for this Italian steed ...
The extremely smooth and compliant ride of the Master easily made up for the 1.5 pounds of added heft over the Moto LeChamp Team Ti.
I am waiting for my Fusion 3's to arrive so I can convert my 101's to tubeless (like I did with the 404 Firecrests on my Orca). Overall, I LOVE the ride and very happy with the purchase! Highly recommended!
- Campagnolo Super Record 11 Group
- Zipp 101 Gray Aluminum Clinchers
- Campagnolo Record 1" Threadless headset
- Continental GP4000s Tires
- Look Keo Blade Pedals
- Ritchey WCS Stem
- E3 Curve Carbon Wing Handlebars
- Fizik Aliante Saddle
- Colnago Full carbon setback seatpost
- Colnago Straight Blade Precisa Steel Fork
- Moro D' Elite Water Cage
Total Weight = 17.94lbs
100% Italian Steel

Pretty bike. You could drop another pound or more with a carbon fork but gotta love the chromed straight blade colnago fork. Would love to see a classic curved handlebar on it though (by the same logic ).

I agree with the classic bend handlebar and silver stem / seatpost recommendations above. I would also add a Chris King stainless steel bottle cage and remove the Zipp logos from the wheels.
Nonetheless, great looking bike.

Needs more chrome and less carbon. That's a bucket list frameset. Congrats!

Damn. Bars are the only thing I'd change as well... not that those look bad in any way.

Totally awesome bike! Congrats!
The only thing it needs is a second bottle cage because that deserves to be ridden on long rides...

Good lord she's beautiful.
Why'd you drop the Ti bike though?

Very nice, I'm a big fan of steel myself.

Wow! Very sweet! Looks like a 70's Colnago frame with that paint scheme and chrome luggs! Enjoy.

Master X Light = my dream bike. Yours is a beauty. Only changes I'd make are a CF fork and losing the spacers under that stem. If I thought one could ride better than my Coppi made from Columbus Genius tubing, I'd get me one.

Thanks guys and also for the suggestions. I wanted a nice balance of retro with some modern parts to it. There is still a bit of WW left in me so maybe when I gather up some more $$, I can do the following changes:
Lastly, I didn't want to build a fourth bike primarily due to space in my home. Hence I had to decide if I wanted to give up on the Campy SR11 Moto LeChamp Team Ti or my Di2 Orca. That decision was a no-brainer . Don't get me wrong, I loved my Ti bike and it has served me well these past two years.
Overall, I love the ride quality of steel!
- Upgrade the bottle cage to King Titanium Cage (or two).
- Take out the steel spacers for some Titanium ones
- Ritchey Classic Stem would look great!

Thanks bro. When I started my research on the bike, your bike photos at ww forum caught my attention and helped me choose the color scheme. I can't take all the credit for the color choices . You have a beautiful one there too, brother! Sorry, I don't have a ww account or else I would've throw you some kudos on your build at ww ! I guess better late than never.
Yes, the ride is indeed incredible! Once my "tubeless-converted" 101's get back from the LBS, we'll see if tubeless will take smoothness and compliance to a whole new level! Can't wait!

No worries. I'm sure it'll be great with tubeless! I *think* they dropped the Saronni color for the Master this year so you must have one of the last for now...maybe it can still be custom ordered, who knows. It's by far my favorite paint scheme...makes me smile every time I hop on it.

I guess mine makes a third campy equipped saronni colnago but it's not nearly as nice as either of your masters

It is in fact the best color ever
