speedometer on hub wheel????
speedometer - checks speed, distance ect of the pushbike
is there a problem with putting the magnet on the hub wheel, my thinking is that the hub wheel is precisely balanced, and the weight of the magnet will put that balance off????
any idea's

This shouldn't cause a problem considering it would have more affect on a normal wheel because it is lighter. Just put it as close to the hub as possible, the further out it is the more momentum it has

I agree there's just not enough weight to the spedo magnet to worry about. Maybe if you were riding at 60 mph on it then I would worry about effecting the balance........Your not doing 60 are you? LOL Staying as close to the hub as you can will also limit the effect.

I do not think the weight is a problem. The magnet is tiny and very light as with most common bike speedometers. like the Bell F20 computer. Compare this to the weight of a car tire. That is very heavy compared to a bike and they only have to use a small amount of lead to balance it. I use the Bell model and have never had a problem with it. I would think if the company knew there would be a common problem with this small weight they would not have used this design for the speedometer.

It can't be any worse for unbalancing than those white side reflectors slotted through the spokes of most wheels. Come to think of it, putting the weight opposite a side reflector would actually balance the wheel to some extent, but really it's not worth worrying about, as its weight is tiny compared to the rim, spokes and a hub motor.

thankyou, question answered....
many great points there...
no, never 60mph - sounds dangerous
never thought about the reflectors - good point
thanks to everyone who replied
