Does always having your bike riding shotgun at work count?

Here in the San Francisco Bay Area BTW is May 9th. Dunno why we can't get together of the date. The weather will be beautiful. I'm retired but I'll ride by a couple of the stations to have a chat and pick up some swag. Always fun. And seeing the fat county supervisors woble along like they belong is always a hoot. I'm targeting the station where Karen Michoff will be fake commuting and will be sure to ask her why it's a good idea to close the Pleasant Hill library for two years while waiting for the new one to be built rather than building the new one first and then switching over. (they are across the street from each other). (I know the answer, the construction industry that funds her wants building to start right away and to heck with those losers who actually read books.)

I start work at 7, so I fully acknowledge that's just too early (for me) to get up and ride to work regularly. But during Bike to Work week, we have contests and raffles at work, so I participate purely for the free stuff. I ride a bike as a hobby, for fitness, for the challenge, etc, not for the utilitarian purpose, though I certainly can appreciate those who do.

Cars were 6 years away from being invented and more than 20 years away from being popularized when the LAW was established. They started the Good Roads Movement in 1898. Henry Ford was still 7 years from production.
Cars may have finished the process but the LAW and bicyclist started the process.

This reminds me of the one where the cyclist rides around wearing his helmet unstrapped. It looks real cool but in an accident it is completely useless.
BTW. 100% "real" ingredients? I hope so. We can't have you spending good money for a container filled with imaginary ingredients.

The only notable difference is there are fewer people to negotiate at 5.30am.

I don't think there's a 'national do something day/week/month' that I pay any attention to.
I do as I please, when I please, and how frequently I please.

Huh? I ride year round. Up at 5:10, I leave my house at 5:45 and arrive at work at 6:25 or so. Showered, stretched and at my desk before 6:50 every day. How long is our ride?

I would be absolutely miserable following your schedule because it would clash with my sleep cycle, I just took the poster to be saying they weren't willing to get out on the road that early, not that it couldn't be done by anyone.

My point would be that despite his disclaimer that (for him) a 7:00 start was too early to ride a bike in, one must adjust priorities to fit the situation.
Would you go to Marine basic training and explain to your drill sergeant that the day began "too early" for you? It's all about choices. Our bodies are pretty adaptable.

That wasn't a disclaimer, he was making clear that he is unwilling to do it.
In your analogy, who is the drill sergeant we're supposedly talking to here? The whole point of basic training is to acclimate you to a situation where your personal preferences are not going to be respected, can't see how that applies here.

I am going to ride tomorrow for our local bike to work day even though I’m retired. They give away some food and drink along the local paths and it’s a chance to chat with some people I haven’t seen for a while. Always enjoy it.

Did you miss the part in parentheses? I clearly said "for me", or should I say (for me). Good for you, you're a tougher person than me. I just don't want to get up at 5:10 every day. Hope my personal life choices haven't disappointed you. Actually idgaf

Wow. That came out of the sky from behind the clouds, did an impossible turn and disappeared.

Sometimes a quote isn't a counterpoint but an extension of an idea, thought, or theme. Nevertheless, a lot can get lost in the translation.

Who sits around and dreams this stuff up? National Bike Day, National Womens Day, Administrative Professionals Day, Fathers Day, Mothers Day, Fart In The Wind Day?
Is there someone who sits in an office thinking up this crap or is it a committee? Either way, they're way overpaid!
