What kind of tubes for a 27" X 1 1/4" Tire?

I recently had a flat on my vintage Peugeot. The tire states that it is a 27' x 1 1/4' tire. I'm kind of confused as to which tube I should get. From what I've been reading, the tube needs to be a 700 x 28C but I couldn't find it in the local bike store. Should I go for a 700 x 23-28C or a 700 x 35-43C?

1 1/4" is nominally pretty much the same as 32mm.

The wheel diameter for 700c is almost the same as 27" (only 8mm different), so 700c tubes and 27" tubes are basically the same thing.

Tubes are stretchy, so it's not a big deal to err a little small. If you can't get a 700c tube that includes 32mm within its range, I'd go with the next width down. A 700x28 tube should work fine.
It's also possible to err a bit large, but it makes tube installation more difficult. Between the 23-28 tube and the 35-43 tube, I'd go with the 23-28.

Ideally a 25-32...

Really either way. A fatter tube like 32-43 used in a 32 can be more difficult to install without pinching it. Conversely, a smaller tube will stretch and it's not problem within reason, but you may get a few more flats from thorns and stuff like that.

There are 700x28-32C tubes that are also marked for use with 27"x1-1/4" tires. Here's one I found with 3 seconds of Googling: https://www.amazon.com/2-Pack-Kenda-.../dp/B017BUV1TU

Your local WalMart is your friend. I get my 27x1 1/4 tubes there.
