as many might have figured out already, I'm not really ripen biker in these biking worlds.
maybe a year or two.
anyway, was looking for new brake pads and there were 72mm options for V brakes of MTB or hybrid bikes.
I'm riding just a common all-round road bike with wheels with aluminum rim, and those 72mm pads sounded more powerful even a bit and didn't look expectedly pricier than 52-55mm ones.
would it be a good choice in mechanical perspective?

Maybe. First thing I think of is the frame/blade/stay clearance with a longer pad. Next up is the different "thickness" between the pad's surface and the mounting stud's washers/spacers and what the OEM pads were. How much space is there for the rim? Don't expect any real improvement in power as that's limited by your tires. You might feel slightly less hand effort at the limits. Far more important is the condition of the pads and rim. Andy

What if clearance is secured (both spaces were enough on the bike) and everything is same?
Just changing brake holders and pads accordingly.

I had a bike where, with large brake pads, the pads would hit the fork blades when opening up the brake arms to take the wheel off (this was with V-brakes), limiting how much the brake arms could be opened up. This was no problem if the tire was 35mm or smaller. If the tire was wider than 35mm I had to deflate it to remove the wheel because the tire wouldn't fit through the brake pads.
