Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

They don't subscribe to the "more is better" philosophy? In the early 90s I would do a century every Saturday. I haven't done one this year. Not that I wouldn't, but I don't feel the need or desire.

"N" is the number of bikes you have. N+1 is where most people are, they want to add 1. N-1 is when you get rid of 1.

Fixed for BillyD . . . I mean the endless churning your legs thing loses it's cachet rather quickly here.

80 is plenty, but to be that close to a century then why not. I know a rider that is almost always a mile short, havnt figured that out yet either.

went for a ride this morning, exploring the new route. I’ve been spoiled up to this point, at my old house I was on mostly back roads so the roads were wide and cars were scarce. At the new house, I am having to ride on busy roads with no shoulder for about the first 5 miles. After that I have access to a “bike lane” which is essentially the shoulder with a bike painted on it every 50 feet. Tomorrow I plan on riding the capital trail. This connects Williamsburg to Richmond, and is 100 miles round robin. I’m not sure if I will do the whole thing, it depends on how early I wake up.

Does garmin varia work only with garmin products, or would it work with a wahoo. Until I can get that I am def going to need to get a mirror.

Wow. I have a friend who buys and sells lots of high end bikes, at least he used to, and he would sell them to other club members cheap. One time he got a new Pinnarello something for about $12k and he liked it so much he picked up a second one in a different color. Nice guy, too bad his bikes are too small for me.

Does your friend keep all the bikes?
