Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I was able to maintain control of my bike following each puncture.

Whiskers (name given by previous owner).

Of late he has the habit of jumping up on the counter top and walking across the keyboard to his sleeping box.

Time to ride. Have to wait a little while longer for daybreak. First ride in a week, stupid job.

We are heading to DC for a week right after my ride. I looked up group rides in DC and may try a group ride sponsored by LBS "The Bike Rack."

I thought this was a serious post, and you were showing the best tire tread pattern to get, based on Mr. rjones28 's three flats. As I have had four flats in four rides, I figured it would be helpful to me as well.

Then you say it's a cat post. Whiskers is dead to me now.

Nice trip to Melbourne. Bought a blue B17 Brooks and blue Brooks leather handlebar tape at our favourite bike shop for Machka's bike (Machak) as a celebratory return home for him.

Then we did the toursity thing, a hop-on/hop-off bus tour that had only mediocre commentary (especially compared with some of the tours we did in the UK and Europe), then got on to one of what called the City Circle Trams; they are old "rattlers". The free ride covered similar ground to the bus tour, but was much better with commentary.

Then we hopped the train back to the norther-most urban station where we parked the car. A nice day, and a nice way to waste a day.

Work tomorrow. That'll be interesting after about six weeks off.

Welcome Beaker. I dabbled here after totally ignoring this thread's predecessors for years. Then found some sanity amid the mayhem in the 41. Nice, intelligent lot of people. Enjoy.

Damn my upper back hurts today (in a good way). It was stormy yesterday, so I decided to paddle instead of ride during my afternoon off. Was out on the lake for 3 hrs. Ooof. THen watched Netflix all evening. One HORRIBLE movie (MI: Ghost Protocol) and One Fantastic rewatch (Apocalypse Now).

Ride today.

I'm gonna try a "training ride" on the fixed gear this morning.

Not sure if this is gonna be a good idea, hope I can recover by Monday evening.
